Toronto Tempo vs. Seattle Storm Prediction: WNBA Betting Odds, Game Preview and Picks

This game between the Tempo and the Storm is scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, and has an expected tip-off time of 10:00 PM ET. The game will be played at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington.

My article will preview this game by giving you a brief overview of the current betting odds, a breakdown of both teams, and my best bet for the game.

Toronto Tempo vs. Seattle Storm WNBA Odds and Betting Trends

A quick look at the current WNBA betting odds tells us that the Storm are the clear betting favourites. As it stands, Seattle is a -215 moneyline favourite, while the Tempo are a big underdog at +172. 

In terms of the point spread, you can bet on the Storm -5.5 at odds of -108, while betting on the Tempo +5.5 carries odds of -112.

As for the total, it has been set at 177.5 points for this matchup. You can bet on over 177.5 total points at odds of -110, while betting on under 177.5 total points also has odds of -110.

Some trends to consider show that the under is 2-0 in the two meetings between these teams, the under is 3-0 in Seattle’s last three games, and the under is 2-1 in Toronto’s last three games.

Toronto Tempo

The Tempo enter this game with a record of 11-26, and are currently in sixth place in the WNBA’s Eastern Conference. Unfortunately for Toronto, they are also in 13th place in the overall WNBA standings, which means they have long been eliminated from the playoffs.

Toronto has not been in good form either, having lost their most recent game to the Las Vegas Aces, and has gone 1-9 SU over their last 10 games. To make matters worse, the Tempo have numerous injuries, including their best player, Marina Mabrey (20.8 PPG), who is currently out with a hip injury, and Brittney Sykes (18.6 PPG), who is confirmed out for the season. 

Seattle Storm

The Storm enter this game with a record of 7-31 and are currently in last place in the WNBA’s Western Conference and the overall WNBA league standings. To this point, and like the Tempo, the Storm were eliminated from the playoffs weeks ago.

Also like Toronto, Seattle has been in terrible form as of late, having lost their most recent game to the Dallas Wings, while also having gone 1-9 SU over their last 10 games. 

The good news for the Storm is that they are pretty much at full strength, with Natisha Hiedeman being their only potential injury for this game.

WNBA Prediction: Who Will Win Toronto Tempo vs Seattle Storm?

The Storm may be the favourite in this game, but given how their season has gone, they cannot be trusted, even against a Tempo team that has been just as inconsistent and is short-handed due to injuries.

Instead, I will be looking at this game to go under the total. For one, these teams have met twice this season, with the total having gone under on both occasions. The first game ended 86-73, while the second game ended 93-72. 

Simply put, both offences are too inconsistent to expect a high-scoring game, so even though neither has a good defence, backing Under 177.5 Total Points (-110) will be my best bet, and I will look for the Tempo to pull off the upset by winning 85-80.
