Bears vs. 49ers Point Spread: NFL Week 14 Odds, Prediction

The 4-8 Bears officially got rid of head coach Matt Eberflus after a clock management debacle at Detroit last week, a 23-20 loss in which rookie QB Caleb Williams had tons of bright moments… aside from his role with the game clock at the end too. San Francisco’s season of hell froze over in Buffalo last week, yet they somehow left with even more devastating injuries in the 35-10 defeat.

Now with five weeks remaining in the NFL schedule, both the Bears and 49ers are shockingly sitting way outside the NFC’s playoff picture with little hope in making a Cinderella run. But that won’t stop the compete level in either team, as kickoff at Levi’s Stadium is set for 4:25 p.m. EST on Sunday. San Francisco’s opened as a -200 moneyline favourite at home and -4 on the spread, with the over-under listed at 44 on the NFL odds.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Lost in all the coaching chaos is a six-game losing streak for the Bears, who are also winless on the road in five tries this season. Home field advantage hasn’t been too strong for the 49ers in 2024 though as they’ve split their first six home outings.

The Bears 0-5 road record also matches their 0-5 over record on the road — and it ain’t because of stingy defence. Prior to scoring 20 points in last week’s road defeat, Chicago had gone above 15 points in their four road games once. Four of the last five Bears–49ers meetings have finished under the total too. San Francisco is also 8-2 ATS in their last 10 times hosting Chicago.

Chicago Bears

Out is Matt Eberflus, in for the interim is Thomas Brown at head coach. And consensus was the move needed to happen after the disastrous Thanksgiving loss at Detroit. Consensus is also that rookie QB Caleb Williams still has a lot to learn, despite throwing for 256 yards and three scores in the defeat.

The glass half-full approach is Chicago should’ve won on the road at Detroit. Veteran receivers D.J. Moore and Keenan Allen both look rejuvenated too, as each scored and recorded over five catches and 70 yards in last week’s loss. The Beats defence also held Detroit to seven second-half points and 211 yards passing — which this season is a victory for any opponent of the Lions. Now at 4-8, Chicago can build for the future. And a road victory over the 49ers is a good first step.

San Francisco 49ers

Christian McCaffrey said it best on Instagram, after going back to the injury reserve (PCL) earlier this week. “This wasn’t my year” is what McCaffrey wrote, which probably everyone in the 49ers organization can echo this season. Backup running back Jordan Mason (ankle) landed on the IR this past week too, because that’s how the 49ers season is going. Both injuries have opened up an opportunity for Isaac Guerendo, who is slated to make his second career start — combined in the college AND pro levels. Guerendo’s looked promising when on the field though, rushing for 246 yards on 42 carries thus far.

On the injury front, Nick Bosa (hip, oblique) and Trent Williams (ankle) both missed Wednesday’s practice. Dre Greenlaw (Achilles), Talanoa Hufanga (wrist), and Deommodore Lenoir (knee) were all limited so help could be on the way on defence.
