Packers vs. Titans Point Spread: NFL Week 3 Odds, Prediction

About a month ago QB Malik Willis was on the Tennessee Titans’ roster. Now, he may be facing his old team as a member of the Green Bay Packers. Jordan Love’s status for Sunday’s contest remains up in the air as he recovers from an ankle injury. Some reports suggest that a return as late as Week 5 is in the cards. The Packers pulled out all the stops to down the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2, 16-10. The Titans need something to get their season on track after falling 24-17 for the second week in a row, most recently to the New York Jets.

Our NFL odds deem the Titans as slight -3 favourites. The over-under is pinned at 36.5.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

This may be a bitter pill to swallow for Titans fans, but the last time their club faced the Packers, they earned a hard-fought 27-17, November win at Lambeau Field in 2022. Why a bitter pill? Because nothing has ever been the same since that night, with the organization going through tons of personnel changes amidst many, many losses. Green Bay has a 3-2 edge over the past five meetings, dating back to 2008.

Fun fact, in three of those matches the winning side scored at least 40 points, but that seems unlikely with Malik Willis and Will Levis under centre, ergo the 36.5 total.

Green Bay has started the season 1-1 versus the spread. Their ATS results have so far mirrored their outright results, with a defeat in Brazil versus the Eagles in Week 1 and a narrow in over the Colts in Week 2.

Tennessee’s start to the season is just bizarre. They’re 0-2 straight up, 0-2 ATS, lost both games 24-17 and were +4 underdogs each time. What’s more, the total earned a push in Week 2.

Green Bay Packers

Everybody wants to know when phenom gunslinger Jordan Love will be back in action. He is the lifeblood of the Packers offence, notwithstanding head coach Matt Lafleur’s brilliant mind.

Sometimes, though, a good head coach is sufficient to just get by. Consider the 16-10 victory at home over the Colts in Week 2. It was not at all a vintage Green Bay win. They ran 53 plays on the ground to 14 through the air. But it worked, with RB Josh Jacobs barrelling his way to 151 yards. Even Willis was in on the action, scampering for another 41. The Packers collected 13 first down by carrying to ball to just six via passes. It resulted in a stunning time of possession of 40:11 to Indy’s 19:49. The most ironic part is that the only touchdown the hosts scored was a Willis to Dontayvion Wicks 14-yard toss in the first quarter.

Green Bay’s defence also told Colts’ QB Anthony Richardson he still has a thing or two to learn, with Xavier McKinney, Evan Williams, and Eric Wilson all picking him off.

Tennessee Titans

Arguing that Mason Rudolph should start over Will Levis sounds crazy, but then consider that Levis committed nearly the exact same guffaw-worthy error in Week 2 as he did in Week 1.

With Tennessee already up 7-0 over the Jets and in the red zone, Levis scrambled out of the pocket and, feeling significant pressure, flicked the ball aimlessly as he tumbled to the ground. The Jets recovered the fumble, much to head coach Brian Callahan’s dismay (lip readers surely had a chuckle). At the very least WR Calvin Ridley had a nice day at the office, scoring a pair of TDs. The first was a 10-yard run in the opening frame and the second a 40-yard pass in the third quarter.

The offensive lineup isn’t bad per se. RB Tony Pollard, TE Tyler Boyd, TE Chig Okonkwo, the aforementioned Ridley. As long as Levis commits inexplicable errors, they’ll remain in neutral.
