Spain vs. England: Euro 2024 Final Odds, Prediction

This is the third straight heavyweight tilt for Spain after they knocked off host Germany in the quarterfinals and behemoth France in the semifinals. England arguably had the easier draw, but still faced stiff competition in the semifinals when they took out the Netherlands.

Spain is a +140 moneyline favourite to win on the Euro 2024 odds, while England is +240 and a draw at the end of regulation is +185.

These countries have very different results when it comes to this competition. Spain has won the European Championship three times, tied with Germany for the most titles, and they are the only nation to win back-to-back Euros (2008, 2012). England, on the other hand, has not only never won the European Championship, they haven’t won a major international tournament since the 1966 World Cup.

La Roja and the Three Lions had successful tournaments last Euros, but both ultimately came up short. Spain lost on penalties in the semifinals of Euro 2020, while England lost on penalties in the final against Italy. It was the best ever tournament result for England and the fifth time Spain reached the semis.

Harry Kane, who is tied for the tournament lead with three goals, is a +225 favourite to be the top goalscorer on the Euro 2024 futures board. Kane has seven goals in his last eight knockout stage games and he is a +195 anytime scorer on Sunday.

Dani Olmo is a good bet to score on the Spanish side as he shares the goal lead with Kane. Olmo, who is +250 to be the top goalscorer in the tournament, has scored in three straight games and he is a +425 anytime scorer against England.

Spain

Spain torched their way through the so-called “Group of Death” earning all nine possible points against 2018 World Cup runners-up Croatia, defending European Champion Italy and Albania. La Roja gave up an own-goal in the Round of 16 against Georgia, but didn’t allow an opposing player to score until the quarterfinals against Germany. Mikel Merino was the hero against the Germans, scoring the winning goal in the 119th minute. Another player who shouldn’t be overlooked is phenom Lamine Yamal, who turns 17 on July 13. Yamal’s goal in the semifinals against France made him the youngest scorer in Euros history.

Spain will get two defensive stalwarts back into the lineup for the final after Dani Carvajal and Robin Le Normand were suspended for the semis. Carvajal received a red card in extra time against Germany, while Le Normand earn a ban because of an accumulation of yellow cards. Both players are expected to be in the starting XI against England. Pedri will missed the final because of a knee injury suffered against Germany, and Ayoze Perez is also out with a quadriceps tear.

England

It’s been far from a smooth ride for England, who survived the group stage with a win, loss and draw. They scraped by Slovakia in the Round of 16 with a miracle comeback before beating Switzerland on penalties in the quarters and scoring the winning goal in the 90th minute against the Netherlands in the semis. Only two of England’s six matches at Euro 2024 have ended in 90 minutes, leading to widespread criticism of manager Gareth Southgate, but all will be forgotten if the Three Lions win a trophy for the first time in nearly 60 years.

Luke Shaw’s return to the lineup means England will field a healthy squad in the final. Shaw was substituted in for the second half of the semifinals and looked good, so he could be elevated to the starting XI against Spain. It would certainly be a welcome return for fans who remember the Manchester United defender scoring two minutes into the Euro 2020 final. Aside from leading-scorer Kane, you can also count on Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden to be dangerous offensively.
