Bills vs. Vikings Week 9 MNF Odds, Prediction and Picks: Possible Super Bowl Preview?
It’s a possible Super Bowl 61 preview on Monday Night Football to conclude Week 9 when MVP favourite Josh Allen and the Bills visit the Minnesota Vikings. Buffalo is a 3.5-point favorite with a total of 45.5 on the NFL odds.
Bills vs. Vikings Kickoff, Weather, TV, Streaming Info
Bills-Vikings kicks off Monday, November 9 at 8:15 p.m. ET. In Canada, the game is available on TSN and can be streamed nationwide on DAZN through NFL Game Pass. RDS also carries NFL primetime coverage in French.
The Vikings used to play outdoors and frankly still should – Bills do – but they have played indoors for a while.
Monday Night Football Betting Odds, Point Spread, Trends
You see NFL teams start 6-1 almost every regular season and both of these clubs sit at that record. But it’s quite rare to see a matchup like this on Monday Night Football as it’s only the third Monday game in league history between teams entering 6-1 or better. It last happened in 2018 (Rams-Chiefs shootout).
Of course, both of these franchises have been to multiple Super Bowls, and they lost them all – many years ago for each. Buffalo is the +310 AFC title favourite and behind only San Francisco (+550) to win its first Super Bowl. Barring injury, seems quite likely that QB Josh Allen wins a second MVP Award as he’s the +165 leader.
If Minnesota had Allen, it might be the Super Bowl favourite because of a dominant defence – but Kyler Murray is not close to Allen at QB. How good is the NFC North? The Vikes lead the division but are only +200 second-favourites to take it. For that first Super Bowl title, +2200.
The teams haven’t met since a 33-30 Vikings OT win in Buffalo in November 2022.
NFL Player Odds and Props
It’s important the Vikings get star wideout Justin Jefferson involved more so we will take him at -125 for at least 70 yards receiving. We are getting Bills QB and touchdown machine Josh Allen at only -125 to score … because of the defence. Have to take that.
Buffalo Bills
Frankly, Buffalo should be 7-0 with that one loss a last-minute one at home to a good New England team in Week 4. The Patriots are the only thing standing in the way of the Bills winning the AFC East, that’s for sure. Led by Josh Allen, the Bills lead the NFL in scoring offence at 33.3 points per game – only team in the 30s entering the week. Buffalo has hit at least 30 points five times, including in each of this three-game winning streak. If this franchise gets any defence, the Lombardi Trophy may well be going to Buffalo. Allen could be short on pass-catchers with wideouts DJ Moore and Joshua Palmer both questionable. Moore just returned in Week 8 from missing two with a hamstring injury. The Bills have won six straight road games to tie a team record and are the only active NFL team with an active road winning streak of at least three.
Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings were the last of the unbeatens, but certainly no shame on losing at excellent Detroit in Week 8, 19-15. That snapped Minnesota’s 11-game winning streak overall and symbolizes this team. Coordinator Brian Flores’ defence is so good; that unit entered Week 9 leading the league in points per game (13.3), passing yards allowed per (154.9), red-zone touchdown percentage (25.0 per cent) and sacks per game (3.6). Flores loves to blitz. Holding the Lions to 19 points in their dome is a major accomplishment. But yet again, that Kyler Murray-led offence was mediocre. You keep hearing talk about the Vikings benching the former No. 1 overall pick, but for Carson Wentz? Murray’s 170.3 passing yards per game are 30th among 31 qualifying passers. The Vikings have won six in a row at home and allowed single-digit points in five of those.
