Cowboys vs. Colts NFL Week 9 Betting Odds, Picks: Indy shakes up roster and front office

Add Sports Interacton as Your Preferred News Source

The Indianapolis Colts look to halt a four-game losing streak that has sparked an organizational shakeup when they host the faltering Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon in NFL Week 9 betting action at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Colts are coming off a humiliating 42-7 loss in Jacksonville, and have scored just 12.3 points per game over their past three contests.

The Cowboys limp into Indy on the rebound after squandering a 14-point third-quarter lead in last week’s 33-30 overtime loss to Arizona that marks their third defeat in four contests.

Despite last week’s meltdown, the Cowboys have emerged as 5.5-point road favourites on the NFL Week 9 odds while the Colts lag as +195 underdogs on the NFL moneyline. The total is pegged at 51.5.

NFL Betting Odds, Point Spread, Trends

The Cowboys rolled to a crushing 54-19 win when these teams last met four years ago in Dallas, and have claimed victory SU and ATS in four of five meetings. However, the Colts claimed a decisive 23-0 victory when the Cowboys last visited Indy in 2018. Indianapolis has averaged 16.3 points in its past three versus the Cowboys and surrender 38+ points in three of their past four head-to-head dates.

The Colts offence has sputtered during the team’s 0-4 SU run, averaging just 14.8 points per game and has surrender 33+ points four times during their 2-6 SU start. Indy has also gone just 1-3 ATS in its past four after opening the campaign on a 3-1 ATS run.

Last week’s meltdown versus the Cardinals marked the second time in four games that the Cowboys have lost after blowing an early lead. Dallas surrendered 30 points after halftime in last week’s loss after allowing just 10 total points in fourth-quarter action over their previous four outings.

NFL Player Odds and Props

Jovante Williams has scored at least one rushing touchdown in six of eight games, with eight rushing scores overall. The Cowboys running back also recorded 49 carries over Dallas’ last two contests, and should be included on every ticket as a -200 wager on Sunday’s anytime TD scorer odds.

Jonathan Taylor has topped 61.5 rushing yards in six of eight outings, averaging 76.3 yards per contest. Dallas ranks last against the run, surrendering 152.8 yards per game and while Taylor managed only 23 yards on eight carries in last week’s blowout loss to Jacksonville, he recorded 24 receiving yards and is worth backing on the NFL player props as a -175 bet to generate 75+ rushing + receiving yards.

Dallas Cowboys

Quarterback Dak Prescott continues to produce despite the Cowboys’ recent woes. Prescott has completed 65.2 per cent of his passes for 2,046 yards, 14 touchdowns and five interceptions, but has averaged just 203.5 passing yards over the past two weeks and was sacked a season-high four times last week.

CeeDee Lamb leads the receiving corps with 709 yards and six touchdowns, while George Pickens has contributed 533 yards and two scores.

Tight end Jake Ferguson and receiver KaVontae Turpin did not practice Wednesday, while Pickens and guard Tyler Smith were limited. Offensive tackle Broderick Jones also missed practice.

Indianapolis Colts

In the wake of last week’s embarrassing loss to the Jaguars, the Colts fired general manager Chris Ballard. The team also traded guard Quenton Nelson to Seattle for two future draft picks and dealt defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to San Francisco for a 2027 fourth-round selection, leaving big holes in both the offensive and defensive lines.

That’s bad news for quarterback Daniel Jones, who has compiled 1,542 passing yards, but just five touchdowns against nine interceptions. Jones has also been sacked 22 times, and Indianapolis owns an NFL-worst minus-11 turnover differential. Injuries further complicate matters, with receiver Keenan Allen, linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither and cornerbacks Charvarius Ward and Justin Walley all missing practice this week.
