Giants RB Saquon Barkley Out for Three Weeks
Barkley was taken down late in the fourth quarter in Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. The drive led to a field goal that awarded the visiting Giants a 31-28 lead they would not relinquish. Unfortunately for them, the win came at a cost, as per reports that came out late Monday.
New York’s leading running back, who has had a history of injuries, will miss three weeks. This includes Thursday night’s trip to San Francisco to face the 49ers.
It’s revealed that Barkley is dealing with an “ordinary” ankle sprain. MRIs uncovered nothing more dramatic than that, although not having Barkley when facing an unforgiving 49ers defence should provide more drama than the Giants would care for.
Behind Barkley in the running back pecking order is journeyman Matt Breida, Gary Brightwell, and 2023 fifth-round pick Eric Gray. There is also QB Daniel Jones, who excels at scamping for yardage.
