Broncos vs. Dolphins Point Spread: NFL Week 3 Odds, Prediction

Miami and Denver are headed in opposite directions as the NFL season moves to Week 3. The Dolphins are 2-0 following last week’s 24-17 win in New England, while the Broncos are 0-2 after a 35-33 loss against Washington. Sunday is the first home game of the season for Miami and the first road game for Denver.

The Dolphins are 6.5-point favourites to win on the NFL odds, with the total sitting at 48.0.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

This is a rare meeting between Miami and Denver as the teams haven’t played each other since Week 11 of the 2020 season. Drew Lock (now a backup in Seattle) led Denver with 270 passing yards, throwing no touchdowns and one interception. A then-rookie Tua Tagovailoa split the game with Ryan Fitzpatrick (since retired). Tagovailoa put up 83 passing yards and a touchdown while Fitzpatrick had 117 yards, no TDs and an interception.

There hasn’t been much of a boost to Denver with Sean Payton now in charge as the Broncos have failed to win or cover in both games this season. They’re 1-1 on the Over/Under.

There’s not much to pick at with the Dolphins this year as they enter Week 3 2-0 straight up and against the spread. They’ve split the Over/Under evenly. Miami’s win streak ATS currently stands at five games.

Denver Broncos

Denver has to be kicking themselves after blowing a 21-3 lead at home against Washington last week. The Broncos scored touchdowns on their first three drives of the game, but it wasn’t enough as they lost back-to-back home games for the first time. Russell Wilson went 18-for-32, finishing with 308 passing yards, three TDs and an interception. Wilson’s 50-yard touchdown pass with no time remaining proved meaningless as the Broncos failed to nail the two-point conversion.

One positive takeaway is the performance of Marvin Mims Jr., who finished with 113 receiving yards and a touchdown on just two catches. Mims also had a 45-yard punt return and finished the game with 168-all purpose yards on five touches.

A big issue for Denver’s offence has been the ground attack. No. 1 running back Javonte Williams has managed 96 yards on 25 carries in two games. Those numbers need to improve.

Miami Dolphins

Miami’s offence has been dominant through two weeks, averaging 30 points per game in wins over the Chargers and Patriots. Tagovailo has played so well, he enters Week 3 as the favourite to win MVP at +550. The Dolphins’ franchise QB has thrown for 715 passing yards, four TDs and two interceptions over two games. Raheem Mostert has also come up big for Miami, finishing last week with 121 rushing yards and two TDs on 18 carries.

One area of concern is the status of receiver Jaylen Waddle, who had four catches for 86 yards before leaving last week’s game with a concussion. Waddle missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday, putting his status in serious doubt this week. That leaves Tyreek Hill as the go-to option on Sunday. Hill has 255 yards and thee TDs on 16 receptions this season.
