FedEx St. Jude Championship: PGA Tour Golf Picks, Predictions, Tee Times
The top 70 golfers on the FedExCup standings have qualified for this event, and with such a relatively small field, any one hem can win. Accordingly, here’s a look at some high-value picks that can be found further down the PGA Tour odds.
Breakthrough for Burns?
It is tough to be sure which version of Sam Burns will show up this week at TPC Southwinds. Indeed, the highs have been high and the lows low for the 27-year-old, who turned in his 11th Top 25 performance of the season at the Wyndham Championship, but has also consistently disappointed by missing the cut in four his past nine PGA Tour appearances.
However, it is tough to overlook Burns’ consistent results at TPC Southwind, where he has shot an average of 67.0 since 2018. That has translated into a heartbreaking playoff defeat at this event two years ago, and a strong run that ended with a disappointing final round and 20th-place finish a year ago.
Indeed, Burns is very much worth backing with a value wager as +3000 bet to claim his second win of the season this weekend. However, with his recent uneven results, the more reliable bet comes in the form of his +313 odds to crack the Top 10.
Spieth High Risk, High Reward
Missing the cut in four of his past seven outings including the US Open has done little to buoy Jordan Spieth’s position on the FedEx St. Jude Championship odds, where he lags at +2200. However, the 30-year-old Texan turned in steady performances at both the Open Championship and the Memorial Tournament, where he claimed a share of fifth place, and got better as the weekend progressed at both the Masters and RBC Heritage.
Long overdue for a win, Spieth is undaunted on the big stage. And considering he had finished 12th or better in two of his past four appearances at TPC Southwind, the three-time major tournament winner offers good value as a +350 bet in round one six shooter wagering, and a +241 wager to crack the Top 10.
Harman Aims to Build on Open Championship Win
Brian Harman turned in a stunning performance in his march to the Open Championship title three weeks ago. However, for PGA Tour betting fans keeping tabs on the 36-year-old American, his success in Liverpool came as little surprise.
With his Open Championship victory, Harman has now finished among the Top 10 in three of four outings since late June, with the lone exception being his 12th-place finish at the Genesis Scottish Open. Harman also enjoyed success at this event a year ago, claiming a share of third place. That makes him worth backing as a +2600 bet to raise the trophy this weekend in Memphis.
Picks: Brian Harman to win (+2600); Sam Burns Top 10 (+313); Jordan Spieth round one six shooter (+350)
