Giants vs. Eagles Point Spread: NFL Predictions, Week 14 Odds
The NFL can flex out Sunday night games this late in the regular season but can’t do the same with Monday night ones – too many issues in moving a game to an entirely different night as opposed to earlier in the same day – or Giants-Eagles certainly would not be on Monday Night Football.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
New York is playing out the string under lame-duck coach Pat Shurmur; there’s zero chance he’s back in 2020. It will be a sought-after job simply as it’s a tradition-rich organization and the Giants have a stellar young running back in Saquon Barkley and a promising rookie quarterback in Daniel Jones. Shurmur, incidentally, was an offensive coordinator with the Eagles from 2013-15 and was an interim head coach in the final game of 2015 in place of the fired Chip Kelly. The Eagles won that meaningless game 35-30 over the Giants.
It’s the first of two meetings this season between the rivals, with the Giants hosting Philadelphia in Week 17 in what could be another meaningless finale. Last year, the Eagles won both meetings. It was a 34-13 rout at home. Carson Wentz threw three touchdown passes, two to Alshon Jeffery. Eli Manning didn’t throw a TD pass, and he probably never takes another snap for the Giants. Barkley had 229 yards from scrimmage and a TD run.
Philly has won the past five in the series, coming by an average margin of 7.4 points. The over is 6-1 in the past seven meetings.
New York Giants
Shurmur’s team appears to have quit on an eight-game losing streak after falling 31-13 at home to Green Bay on Sunday. It’s New York’s worst skid since 2004. The Giants are now 7-21 under Shurmur, but at least there’s a chance they could “earn” the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Jones continues to turn the ball over a ton, intercepted three times by the Packers in the snow. He has a whopping 21 turnovers on the year. Jones also fumbled, but the Giants recovered. He did throw for 240 yards and a score.
Saquon Barkley rushed for 83 yards and caught three passes for 32. Receiver Golden Tate, tight end Evan Engram and safety Jabrill Peppers all were out injured. The Giants are 2-6 ATS during this losing streak.
Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia is one of the most disappointing teams in the NFC at 5-7 and on a three-game losing streak. The Eagles’ only saving grace is that they play in the ultra-weak NFC East with Dallas just one game ahead. The Cowboys could easily lose this Thursday in Chicago so Philly could be tied for first with a victory here. Then again, the Eagles couldn’t even win at a bad Miami team on Sunday, stunned 37-31 – blowing a 28-14 third-quarter lead. No excuse for allowing 37 points and 409 yards to that offence.
Wentz had a pretty good game in throwing for 310 yards and three scores, although he did have an interception. Coach Doug Pederson said he was “disgusted” and put the loss on him. He led this franchise to a Super Bowl just two seasons ago, but Pederson’s seat is getting a bit warm. The Eagles are 7-3 ATS in their past 10 on Monday.
