Oilers vs. Golden Knights Prediction: NHL Betting Odds
Hockey fans in Nevada aren’t too familiar with long losing streaks. The Golden Knights’ current five-game winless run is the longest losing streak in their brief history as an NHL franchise. Vegas looks to get back in the win column when it hosts Edmonton on Monday night.
Oilers vs Golden Knights Betting Analysis
The Oilers come to Sin City licking their wounds following a 5-1 drubbing to the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday night in front of their home fans. Edmonton is now 2-5 straight up in its last seven games and 8-20 in its last 28 contests when pitted as the underdog.
There have been a lot of goals for and against in Edmonton games lately. Oiler games are averaging 7.6 goals during the last seven contests and the Over is 5-2 during the stretch.
The Golden Knights sit in sixth place in the Western Conference despite the recent losing streak. Four of the five losing were by a single goal and two of those games went to overtime. The Knights have allowed at least three goals in each of their last five matchups, but the Under is 4-2 in their last six games.
The home team is 5-0 in the last five meetings between these two clubs, including 3-0 this season. The Golden Knights won the most recent matchup 6-3 just a few weeks ago.
Edmonton Oilers
Edmonton fell behind 5-0 to the Ducks before the home side got a mercy goal midway through the third period. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl both came away without a point meaning both players are unlikely to win the Art Ross or Maurice Richard Trophy.
McDavid trails Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov 122-to-114 in the individual player points race, and Draisaitl is four goals behind after Alex Ovechkin netted a pair on Saturday night.
Vegas Golden Knights
The Golden Knights’ loss on Saturday night to the San Jose Sharks locked them into the No. 3 seed in the Pacific. Vegas will play the Sharks in the first round and will likely be the underdog.
Getting its No. 1 goalie back will help even things up against San Jose. Backup Malcolm Subban has started eight straight games because of a lower-body injury to Marc-Andre Fleury. The Knights are keeping tight-lipped about the extent of Fleury’s injury.
Bettors should assume Fleury will make an appearance before the close of the regular season if he’s going to start the first games of the playoffs. Will that be on Monday night against the Oilers? Pay close attention to the injury report in the hours before puck-drop.
