Commanders vs. Giants Point Spread: NFL Week 9 Odds, Prediction
It’s first vs. worst in the NFC East on Sunday. The Commanders lead the division with a 6-2 record following an 18-15 win against Chicago last week that ended with a wild Hail Mary. The Giants sit at 2-6 following a third straight loss, 26-18 in Pittsburgh.
Washington opened as a three-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, with the total set at 44.5.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
These teams already faced off in Week 2, with the Commanders coming out on top 21-18. Washington running back Brian Robinson Jr. had a massive outing, rushing for a career-high 133 yards in the win. The Commanders out-gained New York by 121 total yards while sacking Daniel Jones five times.
If you’ve been successful betting on these teams this season, you’ve done it in completely different ways. Taking Washington to cover has been the play as they are 6-1-1 against the spread. On the other hand, you want to fade the Giants as they’ve failed to cover in six of eight games.
Washington Commanders
Jayden Daniels went from questionable to play in Week 8 to ending the game with a miracle 52-yard Hail Mary touchdown. Daniels, who has been dealing with a rib injury, finished 21-of-38 for 326 passing yards and a touchdown. He added 52 rushing yards on six carries. Daniels looks like a lock to win Offensive Rookie of the Year. He leads all rookies in passing yards (1,736), completion percentage (71.8) and QBR (104.3) while posting a 7-2 TD-INT ratio.
There are a couple of injury concerns to keep an eye on ahead of Sunday’s game. Rookie left tackle Brandon Coleman missed last week’s game with a concussion, although he was a full participant at practice this week. And tackle Cornelius Lucas is in danger of missing the game because of an ankle injury he suffered last week. Both players are questionable to suit up in Week 9.
New York Giants
At what point do the Giants cut their losses with quarterback Daniel Jones? Jones finished 24-of-38 last week while passing for 264 yards and one pick. It was the third straight game Jones has failed to throw a TD pass and the fifth time overall this season. Drew Lock is a capable backup and starting him over Jones might be the kick in the pants the whole team needs.
One player who doesn’t need a kick in the pants is rookie receiver Malik Nabers. Taken sixth overall in this year’s draft, Nabers is third among rookies with 498 receiving yards and he already torched the Commanders for 127 yards on 10 catches in the first meeting this season.
