Wimbledon Women’s Singles Preview: Odds, Futures and Predictions
Unlike on the men’s side, where Jannik Sinner is a massive favourite to win the Wimbledon title, it looks like a borderline free-for-all in the women’s competition. The field is very deep with plenty of formidable contenders, but it is not top-heavy. Nobody is standing out as anything close to a dominant force on tour right now.
World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka failed to reach the semifinals of any tournament during the clay-court swing, and she is coming off a Berlin semifinal loss to Jessica Pegula, dropping the third set 6-0. Wimbledon is the only one of the four Grand Slams at which Sabalenka has never advanced to the final. Defending champion Iga Swiatek has not reached a final this entire season and fell to Emma Navarro in the Bad Homburg second round on Wednesday. Elena Rybakina, Coco Gauff, and Amanda Anisimova have also been struggling.
Who will seize a huge opportunity at the All-England Club? Let’s break down the odds and discuss the best bets to make.
Wimbledon women’s singles odds
Sabalenka is understandably the odds-on favourite despite her recent struggles. She is the top seed, and her huge serve and forehand – when they are working – make her especially dangerous on a fast surface like grass. The bottom line is that if the Belarusian plays well, she will win. Unfortunately for her, that is quite a big “if” at the moment.
It is a similar story for Rybakina, the second choice. The Kazakh, who lifted the Wimbledon trophy in 2022, is probably the second-biggest hitter on the WTA Tour behind Sabalenka. That makes her a sensible second choice in London.
Here is the short list of favourites on the Women’s Wimbledon odds board to triumph at the All-England Club:
- Aryna Sabalenka +350
- Elena Rybakina +600
- Mirra Andreeva +700
- Iga Swiatek +800
- Coco Gauff +1200
- Amanda Anisimova +1400
- Jessica Pegula +1500
- Emma Raducanu +2500
- Madison Keys +3000
- Linda Noskova +3000
- Marta Kostyuk +3500
- Elina Svitolina +3500
Wimbledon women’s singles best bet: Mirra Andreeva to win (+700)
Andreeva’s talent has never been a question. Only her sometimes fragile mental game has held her back, which is understandable for a 19-year-old. However, those issues should be in the past – at least for now – since Andreeva just won the first Grand Slam title of her career at the French Open. Dating back to round two, the Russian reeled off 12 consecutive sets en route to the trophy, and none of those 12 sets were more competitive than 6-4. It was total domination.
There could be some cause for concern since Andreeva played only one grass-court warmup event prior to Wimbledon and lost right away to Ekaterina Alexandrova in Bad Homburg. Still, we know she can play well on grass. The current world No. 5 reached the Wimbledon fourth round in 2023 as a 16-year-old and advanced to the quarterfinals last summer.
Wimbledon women’s singles prediction: Elina Svitolina to win (+3500)
As a top-eight seed (the same as Andreeva), Svitolina is guaranteed to avoid Sabalenka, Rybakina, and Swiatek at least until the quarterfinals. Svitolina and Andreeva can’t face each other until at least the semis.
Regardless of the draw she ends up getting, though, Svitolina can beat anyone on any given day. Enjoying a resurgence in the second half of her career, the 31-year-old Ukrainian has reached the quarterfinals or better of a whopping seven Grand Slams dating back to the 2023 French Open. This hot streak features two semifinal performances, including at Wimbledon in 2023. She also advanced to the quarters at the All-England Club in 2024. At very long odds, Svitolina arguably has the best value on the board.
