Wimbledon Men’s Singles Preview: Odds, Futures and Prediction
With Carlos Alcaraz out of the event because of a wrist injury, Jannik Sinner is an overwhelming favourite to successfully defend his Wimbledon title. The world No. 1 wilted in the Parisian heat at the French Open, but he should not have that same problem in London, where the temperatures are expected to be much cooler, and grass-court matches are often much shorter. Regardless of his Roland Garros result, Sinner has been the dominant force on tour since losing to Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open semifinals at the beginning of the season. The Italian has won all five Masters 1000 tournaments in 2026 – two on hard courts and three on clay.
Are there any realistic challengers to Sinner at the All-England Club? As we saw in Paris, anything is possible. If there are, the short list includes Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz, and Daniil Medvedev. Let’s break down the odds and discuss the best bets to make.
Wimbledon men’s singles odds
Sinner captured his first Wimbledon title last summer, winning five of his seven matches in straight sets – including over Shelton in the quarterfinals and Djokovic in the semis – and toppling Alcaraz in the final. The 24-year-old is 20-4 lifetime at the All-England Club and has not lost before the quarters since 2021. Understandably, he is favoured over the entire field.
Still, other contenders are in with realistic chances. Zverev won the French Open earlier this month, and his status as a Grand Slam champion should give him a ton of confidence moving forward. Djokovic has won this tournament seven times and remains a top-10 player even at 39 years old. Shelton and Fritz wield huge serves that make them particularly dangerous on grass.
Here is the short list of betting favourites to triumph at Wimbledon:
- Jannik Sinner -165
- Novak Djokovic +500
- Alexander Zverev +1100
- Ben Shelton +1800
- Taylor Fritz +2000
- Jack Draper +3000
- Jakub Mensik +3500
- Matteo Berrettini +5000
- Frances Tiafoe +5000
- Alexander Bublik +5000
- Daniil Medvedev +5000
Wimbledon men’s singles best bet: Alexander Zverev to win (+1100)
Most importantly, Zverev is guaranteed to be on the opposite side of the draw from Sinner as the No. 2 seed. That means they cannot face each other until the final. There is a good chance that a path to the title clears for the 29-year-old German, just as it did at Roland Garros – where he did not face a single opponent ranked better than No. 14 en route to his first major trophy.
Wimbledon is the only one of the four slams at which Zverev has failed to reach the final. There is no reason, however, why the world No. 3 cannot succeed on grass. He boasts one of the best serves on tour and has been serving at an extremely high percentage throughout the 2026 campaign. Zverev has advanced to three grass-court finals in his career – two in Halle and one in Stuttgart.
Wimbledon men’s singles prediction: Taylor Fritz to win (+2000)
Fritz has been the king of smaller grass-court events in recent years. The American is a four-time champion in Eastbourne and also lifted the trophy in Stuttgart last summer. Although Fritz has dealt with knee tendinitis pretty much this entire season, he has looked better during the grass-court swing with runner-up performances in both Stuttgart and Halle.
As the seventh-ranked player in the world, Fritz owns a top-eight seed for Wimbledon and is therefore guaranteed to avoid Sinner at least until the quarterfinals. If the 28-year-old ends up landing in Zverev’s half of the draw, the odds of +2000 become even better value.
