The most interesting bad division in football? It has to be the AFC West with three first-place teams at just 6-6. Might only take a .500 record to win that.

First of two meetings in 17 days between NFC South rivals and their first-ever at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Atlanta swept last year, both high scoring – not a huge surprise when you have Matt Ryan vs. Drew Brees.

Indy lost a third straight Sunday, 30-10 in Jacksonville. The Colts haven’t scored more than 17 points in the skid. It assures Coach Chuck Pagano of his first losing season – he’s expected to be fired after it. This is just the third time since 2001 that the Colts will finish the season with a losing record. Buffalo lost to New England, 23-3, and lost quarterback Tyrod Taylor to an injury. The team thinks he avoided a serious problem, but he’s in question this week. If he can’t go, it will be rookie Nathan Peterman.

Potential playoff preview between two of the NFL’s best defensive teams. Minnesota has won eight straight and has all but clinched the NFC North. That excellent Vikings defence largely shut down the Falcons on Sunday. Carolina had a four-game winning streak end in New Orleans, which probably rules out the Panthers from winning the NFC South. Last year, the Vikings won in Charlotte 22-10. Cam Newton had three interceptions and was sacked eight times (one for a safety).

Short week for Cincinnati as it hosted Pittsburgh on Monday night in a must-win game for the Bengals’ wild-card hopes. Chicago officially hit rock bottom in a 15-14 home loss to a terrible 49ers team, the Bears’ fifth straight defeat. It would be a minor upset, frankly, if John Fox is still the team’s coach by the time you read this. He will not be back in 2018, that’s a sure thing. His record is 12-32 in Chicago.

Two flagship franchises that have been run very differently – i.e. one really well and one as badly as possible – over the past couple of decades. It helps that the Packers went from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers (still out injured this year), while the Browns have started nearly 30 different quarterbacks since returning to the NFL in 1999. This could be Green Bay’s final game without Rodgers as he’s eligible to return in Week 15. At the very least, winless Cleveland didn’t lose Sunday by double digits so that’s a positive. Josh Gordon played his first game since 2014 and had four catches for 85 yards.

Sunday was Jimmy Garoppolo’s first game as a starting quarterback for the 49ers, and he led a 15-14 upset win in Chicago, where he grew up. Garoppolo threw for 293 yards. Former Bear Robbie Gould won it on a 24-yard field goal with four seconds to go. Houston lost at Tennessee, 24-13. Five different Texans left with injuries. Tom Savage threw for a career-high 365 yards but had a crucial late interception.

Jacksonville clinched its first non-losing season since 2010 with a 30-10 rout of the Colts on Sunday. Blake Bortles had a rare big game with 309 yards passing and two scores. Leonard Fournette rushed for a score despite tweaking an ankle. Seattle got a huge win Sunday night by ending Philadelphia’s nine-game winning streak, 24-10. This game was “flexed” from 1 p.m. ET to 4:25 p.m. – a big break for Seattle.

Oakland was swept by Kansas City last year but looks to turn the tables here. The Raiders beat the Chiefs 31-30 in Week 7 in an incredibly wild finish that culminated with the game-winning TD pass on an untimed down. The Chiefs have just one victory in their past seven games after starting 5-0. They were upset at the Jets on Sunday. The Raiders beat the visiting Giants to tie the Chiefs and Chargers atop the AFC West.

The Lions were bombed in Baltimore on Sunday, 44-20, and saw quarterback Matthew Stafford suffer a hand injury late. X-rays did come back negative so Stafford should be in position play here. He set a franchise record during the loss by completing 20 straight passes at one point. Tampa lost a second in a row Sunday, 26-20 in overtime at Green Bay. Jameis Winston returned from a three-game injury absence and threw for two scores but was sacked seven times and lost a fumble.

The Titans are tied for first in the AFC South with Jacksonville despite Tennessee having a negative-16 point differential. It beat Houston in Week 13, 24-13. LeShaun Sims intercepted a pass in the end zone with 1:02 left. Derrick Henry then clinched the game with a 75-yard TD run. Arizona lost 32-16 to the Rams. Top running back Adrian Peterson missed the game with a neck injury. Larry Fitzgerald moved into fourth on the all-time NFL receiving yardage list and should pass Randy Moss for third in this one.

What do these teams have in common? Both figure to have new starting quarterbacks in 2018 – either via the draft or free agency — as they play out the string in 2017. The Broncos are an utter mess on an eight-game skid. They were blown out at a struggling Miami team on Sunday, 35-9. Trevor Siemian, the Broncos’ third starting QB in as many weeks, threw three picks. New York upset Kansas City 38-31 behind 331 yards passing from Josh McCown. The journeyman threw for a score and rushed for two, including the winner with just over two minutes left.

Washington’s playoff hopes likely vanished in last Thursday’s 38-14 loss in Dallas. Kirk Cousins threw two interceptions and lost a fumble. The Chargers won their third in a row, 19-10 over Cleveland. Keenan Allen is the hottest receiver in the NFL as he had a third straight game with at least 10 catches, 100 yards and one TD.

Another potential preview and the first-ever matchup between the top two picks in the 2016 draft, quarterbacks Jared Goff of the Rams (No. 1) and Carson Wentz of the Eagles. The reason L.A. and Philadelphia are so much better this year is because both guys have taken huge steps forward in their sophomore seasons.

These NFC East rivals both has such high hopes when the met in Week 1, with Dallas winning 19-3. Ezekiel Elliott had 140 yards from scrimmage for the Cowboys, but he serves game No. 5 of a six-game suspension here. The Cowboys did keep their playoff hopes alive by ending a three-game skid with a win over the Redskins last Thursday. New York played its first game since 2014 without QB Eli Manning on Sunday as he was benched for Geno Smith. The Giants lost again, 24-17 in Oakland. There’s some talk Coach Ben McAdoo could be fired on Monday.

Sunday night game. Pittsburgh is on a short week after visiting Cincinnati on Monday. Baltimore blew out visiting Detroit 44-20, a season high in points for the Ravens. Joe Flacco threw for two scores and Alex Collins rushed for two. The Steelers go for the season sweep as they beat the Ravens soundly 26-9 in Week 4. It was Pittsburgh’s first win in Baltimore in five years.

These AFC East rivals played just two weeks ago, with New England cruising to a 35-17 victory thanks to four Tom Brady TD passes, two to Rob Gronkowski. However, the Pats have dropped three of their past four in Miami. Gronk might be suspended for this one due to a cheap shot hit on Sunday.
