Montreal Canadiens vs. Boston Bruins Prediction, NHL Odds

The Montreal Canadiens look to win consecutive games at TD Garden for the first time since 2019 when they visit the Boston Bruins on Saturday night in NHL betting action.

The Canadiens skated to a 6-2 victory when they visited Boston on December 23, snapping a nine-game road losing streak versus the Bruins, but have fallen to defeat in three of their past five away dates overall.

The Bruins opened their current two-game home stand with Thursday’s 4-3 victory over Vegas, and have now won six straight on home ice sin ce their December loss to the Habs.

The Bruins lead the way as razor-thin -115 home favourites on Saturday’s NHL odds. The Canadiens trail as a -105 bet on the NHL moneyline, and the total is pegged at 6.5.

Canadiens vs. Bruins NHL Betting Odds

Last month’s victory in Boston marked the Canadiens’ second win in three overall dates with the Bruins, while outscoring their arch-rivals by a combined 12-6 margin over that stretch. That win also ended a brutal stretch for the Habs in Beantown, where they surrendered 47 total goals during their nine-game swoon while scoring more than two goals on just three occasions.

With the Bruins filling the net, the OVER has paid out in each of the Canadiens’ past five visits. Both these clubs sit among the league leaders in scoring this season, with Montreal’s fourth-ranked attack potting 3.37 goals per game and the Bruins ranking eighth with 3.29 goals scored per game.

The Bruins have also lit up opponents during a sizzling 9-2-0 run that has lifted them into the wild card picture in the Eastern Conference, tallying 4.18 goals per game and now rank fourth in the NHL in goals scored on home ice while allowing more than two goals in just one of those nine wins.

That’s bad news for the Habs, who have struggled to find consistency on the road, and surrendered five goals in five of their past 11 away from Bell Centre.

Montreal Canadiens

A slow start doomed the Habs in Thursday’s visit to Buffalo, where they spotted the Sabres an early 3-0 lead and mounted a comeback that fell well short despite outshooting their hosts by a 34-17 margin.

The Habs have now limited opponents to 24 or fewer shots in four of their past seven outings, but have failed to capitalize, winning just twice while potting just 12 total goals.

Nick Suzuki has remained a steady producer. The Canadiens captain sparked the Habs’ comeback bid in Buffalo with a goal and an assist, and has now scored twice and added five helpers during a four-game points streak.

Suzuki also tallied a goal and a helper in last month’s win in Boston, and has recorded two goals and eight points over his past six appearances at TD Garden, and should be taken as a -140 bet to record at least one assist on Saturday night.

Lane Hutson and Noah Dobson each picked up three assists in that December win over the Bruins. Hutson has remained hot, turning in multi-point performances in three of his past four games while Dobson has mustered just four total points in 12 January contests.

Boston Bruins

Now trailing the Habs by just three points in the Atlantic Division standings, the Bruins’ recent surge has been powered by David Pastrnak’s sensational start to the new year. Pastrnak is coming off a three-point night versus Vegas, and has now recorded two goals and 10 assists during the Bruins’ 6-0-0 run at home.

The talented Czech has also regularly victimized the Habs, scoring six times and adding 16 assists during a 12-game points streak versus Montreal including four goals and seven helpers in six home meetings. Accordingly, he should be taken as a +145 bet on the NHL player props to enjoy another multi-point night on Saturday.

At the other end of the ice, Jeremy Swayman has been steady between the pipes. The Bruins’ expected starting netminder on Saturday has allowed just four total goals while recording three straight home wins, but was in net for all six Canadiens goals last month and has allowed six goals in three of his past nine starts including his last outing, a 6-2 in Dall as on Tuesday in which he was pulled in the third period.
