Commanders vs. Giants Point Spread: NFL Week 15 Odds, Prediction
It didn’t take long for the Commanders (3-10) to shed the feel-good narrative from last year’s 12-5 record and run to the NFC Championship game. Last year’s Offensive Rookie of the Year, Jayden Daniels, has suffered multiple injuries and been in and out of the lineup.
Washington has lost eight straight, including five in a row on the road, including last week’s low point – a 31-0 shellacking at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings.
The Giants (2-11) are even worse. They’ve lost seven straight, including three in a row since coach Brian Daboll was fired. Rookie QB Jaxson Dart offers hope if he can stay in the lineup.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Washington is 1-7 against the spread in its last eight games and 1-6 ATS on the road. However, the Commanders are 5-0 ATS against opponents with a .250 record or worse, and 4-1 ATS in the second of back-to-back road contests.
The Giants are 3-2 against the spread at home and have played to the over in 7 of their last 8 games.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. is now New York’s No. 1 running back, but Devin Singletary has received double-digit carries each of the past three weeks and recorded a season-high 68 yards against the Patriots. On the NFL odds, he is -110 to rush for over 50 yards, and +310 to rush for over 75 yards.
Washington Commanders
Backup quarterback Marcus Mariota and the Commanders had believers out there. Two straight overtime losses to the Miami Dolphins in Madrid and the AFC-leading Denver Broncos at home promoted confidence that the team could get over the hump.
Then came last week’s clunker, in which Washington’s 30th-ranked defence allowed J.J. McCarthy – who threw a career-high three TD passes – to function like an actual NFL quarterback.
Meanwhile, the team lost veteran tight end Zach Ertz for the season and continued to court disaster by forcing Daniels back onto the field. He and Mariota combined for 88 yards passing last week.
The team is 3-10 and battling the Giants for draft position. In a city still recovering from the potential-shattering horrors of Robert Griffin III, this is the worst kind of deja vu.
New York Giants
Dart is the team’s future, but interim coach Mike Kafka would be better served by sitting the concussion-prone rookie in favor of Jameis Winston, who threw for 366 yards in a 34-27 overtime loss at the Detroit Lions just before Thanksgiving.
Sure, Dart could use the game reps – if he can stay upright – but at this point, it would be just as valuable to watch the 10-year veteran guide the offence and avoid contact while moving around in the pocket.
The Giants’ 31st-ranked defence has struggled just about everywhere outside of Brian Burns’ 13 sacks, but the biggest disappointment has to be third overall pick Abdul Carter, who has just 1.5 sacks and has been benched multiple times for missing team meetings. This is not the first impression the former Penn State standout needed to make this season.
NFL Prediction: Who Will Win Commanders vs. Giants?
It doesn’t matter who wins; it’s the viewers who suffer with this matchup. Take the Giants to win straight up as a 2.5-point home underdog 24-21.
