Top spot in Group B is up for grabs on Wednesday when Canada and Switzerland clash in Vancouver.

Canada is coming off a historic World Cup performance which saw them win their first-ever game at the tournament, a 6-0 blowout victory over Qatar.

The Swiss also won big last time out, 4-1 over Bosnia and Herzegovina, to match Canada with four points apiece at the top of Group B.

However, with Canada leading by three in goal differential, they will clinch the group with a or draw on Wednesday.

Switzerland vs. Canada Betting Odds

Canada is a slim +230 underdog, while Switzerland is a +130 favourite and a draw is listed at +220. Regardless of the result, Canada is nearly guaranteed to reach the knockout round for the first time in World Cup history. Switzerland has reached the Round of 16 in three straight World Cups.

The total for Wednesday’s game is pegged at 2.5, with the Over sitting at +100. That’s an attractive option given Canada has seven goals in two games and the Swiss have five in the same span. Keep in mind, this is one of the highest scoring World Cups in history, with this year’s tournament producing 25 per cent more goals than Qatar 2022.

Switzerland FIFA World Cup Odds and News

Like Canada, Switzerland is almost guaranteed a spot in the Round of 32 barring a blowout loss. A-Team are on a five-match unbeaten run and have not conceded a first-half goal in any of those games (both goals allowed in this year’s World Cup came in stoppage time). This is also a program that finishes strong, not conceding the final group stage game in their last five World Cup appearances.

Switzerland changed their starting XI against Bosnia and Herzegovina, with Silvan Widmer and Fabian Rieder replacing Denis Zakaria and Ruben Vargas. Zakaria and Nico Elvedi are both sitting on yellow cards, so they may have a diminished role against Canada. Johan Manzambi leads the team in goals after securing a brace last game, while Vargas, Breel Embolo, Granit Xhaka have also scored.

Canada FIFA World Cup Odds and News

What a way to get your first-ever World Cup win as Canada absolutely crushed Qatar 6-0. For context, that’s twice as many goals as Canada’s previous seven World Cup games combined. The six goals were the most ever scored in a World Cup game by a CONCACAF nation and they also became the first nation outside of Europe or South America to score more than five times in a Wold Cup game.

The win didn’t come without hardship, however, as stalwart midfielder Ismael Kone suffered a broken leg and will now miss the rest of the tournament. The good news is Moise Bombito played a full half and could start on Wednesday, while Alphonso Davies will likely only be used in a sub role if Canada is trailing late.

Switzerland vs. Canada Player Odds and Props

Jonathan David anytime goal (+225)

It was only a matter of time before Jonathan David broke out and boy did he break out last game, powering Canada to a win with a hat-trick backed by game-highs in shots (eight) and shots on target (five).

Cyle Larin anytime goal (+230)

I couldn’t decide between David and Cyle Larin to score, so I’ll take them both. Larin has scored in both group stage games as a sub and as a starter, so I’m banking on him thriving in whatever role he has against Switzerland.

World Cup 2026 Bracket and Futures

It’s a two-way race to win Group B at the moment, with Canada and Switzerland each sitting at four points. It’s important to note, the Canadians hold the tiebreaker as their goal differential is plus-six and Switzerland is plus-three. That means Canada wins the group with a win or a draw against Switzerland.

Switzerland vs. Canada Score Prediction

Final score prediction: Switzerland 2 | Canada 2

Canada and Switzerland are each almost certainly making it to the Round of 32, so I don’t expect them to risk injury or suspension when making lineup decisions. However, the group winner gets to stay in Vancouver and gets an extra week off between games, so I expect both teams to put on a strong effort.
