Alphonso Davies
Davies did not play in Canada’s first two group stage games. The 25-year-old is still recovering from a left hamstring injury he suffered in early May while playing for Bayern Munich in a Champions League semifinal.
Marsch says Davies will not start against Switzerland, but he is training with the team and he will be available off the bench.
The hamstring issue is the latest in a long string of injuries that have kept Davies from appearing with the national team since March 2025.
Canada World Cup
Canada opened the World Cup with a 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina before a dominating 6-0 victory over Qatar. It was the men’s national team’s first-ever World Cup win.
The Canadians can continue to make history on Wednesday as they will clinch Group B with a win or draw versus Switzerland. Both teams are tied atop the group with four points, but Canada holds the tiebreaker on goal differential (+6 vs. +3).
As of Wednesday morning, Canada is a short +230 underdog, while Switzerland is a +138 favourite and a draw is listed at +200.
