Week 4 around the CFL opens Thursday night with a West Division matchup as unbeaten Edmonton visits one-loss Winnipeg. The Blue Bombers are 3.5-point favourites on the CFL odds with a total of 55.5 for the 8:30 p.m. ET kick.

CFL Odds and Betting

This series had been utterly dominated by Winnipeg of late. In the home matchup last year, the Blue Bombers prevailed 36-23 for a 13th straight win vs. Edmonton. Zach Collaros threw for three scores and 334 yards while rushing for a score, while Nic Demski had 97 yards and two touchdowns receiving.

However, the Elks ended their losing streak with a 25-20 home victory in Week 19. Edmonton got rushing touchdowns from Cody Fajardo and Justin Rankin, and Kordell Jackson scored on a fumble return. Winnipeg’s 13-game winning streak in the series was its longest ever against any opponent. The Blue Bombers haven’t been swept in a regular-season series by the Elks since 2015.

They play three times this regular season with the first rematch Week 12 in Edmonton and then a return to Commonwealth Stadium in Week 20. The Blue Bombers are 4-1 ATS in the past five meetings overall. The over is 4-1 in the past five in Winnipeg.

Edmonton Elks

I previewed Edmonton’s home opener last Saturday vs. Montreal and predicted a 30-27 Alouettes victory. But the Elks prevailed, 32-29, in overtime in the rain. After Montreal was held to a field goal on its first possession of OT, Edmonton won it when quarterback Cody Fajardo scored a touchdown on a six-yard run.

Justin Rankin had a pair of rushing scores and 179 yards on the ground as Edmonton, which was down 13-0 at one point, ended Als QB Davis Alexander’s 13-game winning streak. Rankin was also his team’s leading receiver, making five catches for 51 yards.

It was the Elks’ first time playing in OT since the last game of the 2024 season, a home victory over the Toronto Argonauts. Edmonton has started 2-0 for the first time since 2019. Wideout Joe Robustelli has yet to make his team debut due to injury and is questionable this week. Edmonton is 6-2 ATS in its past eight road games.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Winnipeg has been off since losing its home opener, 37-27, to Hamilton in Week 2. Zach Collaros was 28-of-35 for 421 yards with touchdowns to Nic Demski and Pokey Wilson and one interception. Demski became only the 19th Canadian player in CFL history to reach 500 career catches. Tommy Nield let the Blue Bombers with seven catches for 111 yards in his first 100-yard receiving game.

One major defensive concern so far has been the rush defence as both Calgary and Hamilton rushed for 171 yards against that unit with each having a 100-yard back. It’s the first time Winnipeg has allowed back-to-back individual 100-yard rushers since Weeks 14-15 of 2024. And now comes CFL leading rusher Justin Rankin (281 yards).

That defence allowed a league-low 34 touchdowns against last season and ranked third in rushing yards allowed (94.1). That group is last in 2026 in rush yards allowed. The over is 8-4 in Winnipeg’s past 12 at home.
