Vancouver Canucks vs. Colorado Avalanche Prediction, NHL Odds

Tuesday in the NHL brings us a Western Conference matchup between the Vancouver Canucks and Colorado Avalanche. Taking place in Ball Arena in Denver, the league-leading and surging Avalanche host a struggling Canucks team with just one win in six games.

Can Colorado continue their pure dominance over the entire league, or will the Canucks enter a tough building and win a major upset?

The Avalanche are sizeable -325 favourites to win on the NHL odds, with the total set at 6.5.

Canucks vs. Avalanche NHL Betting Odds

As Western Conference foes, the Vancouver Canucks and Colorado Avalanche meet three times per regular season. While Colorado is 1-0-0 this season against Vancouver, the Canucks swept the season series 3-0-0 last year.

Against the spread (ATS), the Avalanche are 15-10 while the Canucks are 12-14. Within the game totals, Colorado is 10-15-0 to the Over, while Vancouver is 18-7-1.

Vancouver Canucks

A disappointing season continues for these Vancouver Canucks. They are sitting with a 10-13-3 record that has them seventh of eight teams in the Pacific Division. In what was supposed to be a rebound after a disappointing season, they have yet to find their footing, well over a quarter of the season into it.

There is a growing list of injuries for these Canucks, and while you may not see any big names, their depth has taken a hit. Nils Hoglander, Derek Forbort, Filip Chytil, and Teddy Blueger headline the injuries. If they were to snap out of their current funk of one win in six games, this will likely not be the time they do it. They are on the road playing a pure powerhouse, and an organizational grey cloud will make things tough.

Colorado Avalanche

What a season it has been for these Colorado Avalanche. At 18-1-6, they lead the NHL with 42 points, with the next team four points away and one more game played.

Nathan MacKinnon has been an absolute beast as he leads the NHL in points (44), goals (20), and is third in assists (24). Martin Necas (33 points) and Cale Makar (23 assists) round out an elite three-headed monster, but this is just the beginning of a well-rounded and deep roster.

Their power play operates at just 16.3 per cent, but this has not affected the team whatsoever as they lead the league in goals per game (4.12) and goals against average (2.08). They also have a top-three penalty kill at 86.8 per cent. This team is truly an unstoppable force right now.

NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Canucks vs. Avalanche?

Before the season began, I would have thought a matchup between Vancouver and Colorado could be close. With how things have played out so far, I think Colorado should walk through this matchup. They have the comfort of home ice and are extremely deep with many of the top stars in the NHL.

They are healthy, and not a single aspect of the game has been weak. I expect this to be a 5-2 win for the Colorado Avalanche.
