Miami vs. Indiana Bracket Prediction: March Madness Odds

We’re on to the second round at the NCAA Tournament on Sunday night with No. 5 Miami facing No. 4 Indiana in Albany, New York. The Hurricanes downed Drake 63-56 in the first round on Friday, while the Hoosiers rolled past Kent State 71-60.

Indiana opened as a slim 2.0-point favourite to win on the college basketball odds.

Miami vs. Indiana NCAA Tournament Point Spread and Betting

Miami enters this contest 4-1 against the spread in their last five NCAA Tournament games. They’re also 4-1 ATS in their last five games against Big Ten opponents. The Hurricanes are looking to reach the Sweet 16 for the second straight year and fifth time in school history.

The Hoosiers are just 1-4 ATS following a win. The total has gone Under in four of their last five games against ACC opponents. Indiana is looking to punch their ticket to the Sweet 16 for the 23rd time overall and first since 2016.

The winner of this game will take on either No. 1 Houston or No. 9 Auburn when the Sweet 16 kicks off on Thursday.

Miami Hurricanes (5)

Despite scoring a season-low 63 points on Friday, Miami managed to keep their season alive thanks to contributions from Nijel Pack, Wooga Poplar and Norchad Omier, who all finished with double digit points. Pack dropped a game-high 21 points, while Polar added 15 and Omier had 12 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Defensively, the Hurricanes had seven steals in the game, including two in the final minutes that helped close things out with a 16-1 run over Drake.

The one concern for Miami was the disjointed-looking offence that struggled to connect all game. The Hurricanes’ two leading scorers, Isaiah Wong (15.8 points per game) and Jordan Miller (15.0 ppg) combined for just 12 points on 3-of-17 shooting against Drake. If Miami hopes to make a second straight Sweet 16 appearance, Wong and Miller will need to be much bigger factors against Indiana.

Indiana Hoosiers (4)

Trayce Jackson-Davis did it again for the Hoosiers in the first round on Friday. Indiana’s leader in points per game (20.1), rebounds (10.9), assists (4.1) and blocks (2.8) dropped a game-high 24 points to go along with 11 rebounds, five assists and five blocked shots. Jackson-Davis became the first player since blocks became an official NCAA stat in 1985-86 to record at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and five blocks in an NCAA Tournament game. Race Thompson also stepped up against Kent State, finishing one rebound shy of a double-double with a season-high 20 points and nine boards.

The only real surprise of the game for Indiana was the quiet night from freshman Jalen Hood-Schifino who ran into foul trouble and finished with just eight points. Look for Hood-Schifino, who is the Hoosiers’ second-leading scorer (13.3 ppg), to be a bigger factor against Miami.
