Boston Bruins vs. Carolina Hurricanes Game 2 Prediction, NHL Odds
We saw three pieces of evidence in the regular season and when the teams met for a fourth time in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinals series, the same story played out.
Can the Bruins change the script in Game 2 and even this series up?
Bruins vs. Hurricanes NHL Playoffs Betting Odds
The Bruins lost in Game 1 and are a dog in Game 2. They’ve still cashed in five of their last eight when posted as an underdog. Road games have gone well for them generally as they are 13-7 in their last 20 away games.
As for Carolina, they’re now riding a seven-game winning streak as we move towards Game 2. They have been money as a favorite, winning 25 of their last 33. They’ve also won 40 of their 55 when playing in front of their home audience.
Boston Bruins
The Boston Bruins can’t seem to figure out the Hurricanes. They have two main issues: they can’t score any goals against them and they can’t figure out how to stop them from scoring. The two sides have now played four times this season and the combined score in Carolina’s four wins has been 21-2.
The Hurricanes didn’t even have starter Frederik Andersen in net in Game 1 and it didn’t even matter. Antti Raanta stepped in and posted a .972 save percentage on 35 shots. The Bruins did some things right – like having 11 more shots on net than the Hurricanes – but they struggled with puck possession. The Hurricanes won nine more faceoffs and that was key.
What’s concerning here is that the Hurricanes didn’t win by four with tons of help from the special teams or power play; they were 0-for-3 with the man-advantage. They simply whipped them five-on-five. Boston will have to come up with some answers quick to turn this around.
Carolina Hurricanes
The Hurricanes have to be feeling pretty good about themselves as they continue to dominate the Bruins. They outscored them 16-1 in the three regular season meetings and beat them 5-1 in Game 1. Brad Marchand was the Bruins leading scorer this season but he doesn’t have a point against the Hurricanes yet and is a -5. David Pastrnak had 77 points in 72 games this year but had just one in the meetings with the Hurricanes and is now a combined -4.
For the Hurricanes, the keys to victory is simple: just keep doing more of the same. If you’re betting this matchup, why would you expect a different result? With the Hurricanes at home again and with all of the momentum, they’re the play here.
