Oilers vs. Avalanche NHL Betting Odds
Dating back to a Western Conference Final sweep last season, it’s been all Avalanche when these clubs get together. The Avs are 8-2 in their last 10 meetings with Edmonton including a five-game win streak over the Oilers at home. Colorado took the first meeting between these teams via a 3-2 overtime victory, with phenom defenceman Cale Makar playing hero.
The over has hit in eight of Edmonton’s last 10 road games, and 18 of their 27 this season. The Oilers are coming in as the league’s highest-scoring club with 3.73 goals per game, and despite the losing streak Edmonton has eight goals over their last two outings.
Edmonton Oilers
A blown 4-1 first period lead spoiled Connor McDavid reaching 100 points for the sixth time in his career. McDavid, the NHL’s leading scorer, has 42 goals and 59 assists in 56 games this season. Teammate Leon Draisaitl remains in second with 32 goals and 49 assists for 81 points.
But the bigger story is the blown lead that kept Edmonton in a Wild-Card spot. Jack Campbell picked up the past two losses in net and has an .893 save percentage in four games this month. Stuart Skinner, who’s been much better than Campbell despite splitting duties this season, should get the nod in Colorado. Stuart has a team-high .913 save percentage in 30 appearances.
Colorado Avalanche
Defenceman Bowen Byram’s two goals led Colorado in their 4-1 victory Saturday, while Mikko Rantanen scored his team-leading 35th goal to open the days scoring. Rantanen’s tally was his 200th career goal and his first since the All-Star break. Backup goalie Justus Annunen made 19 saves in his season debut, lining up starter Alexandar Georgiev to man the crease against the Oilers.
The win was Colorado’s third in their last four outings, with the Avs scoring at least three times in all four games. Captain Nathan MacKinnon has multiple points (and at least six shots on net) in all four of those games and is now a point behind Rantanen for the team lead.
