Winnipeg Jets vs. Montreal Canadiens: NHL Odds, Prediction
The Montreal Canadiens are fresh off another loss, this time falling 2-1 at home to the New Jersey Devils. This is a team that’s had a disastrous season and simply can’t wait for the misery to come to an end. They have three more games left and they’ll be a sizable home dog in their next contest on Tuesday when they host the Winnipeg Jets.
Jets vs Canadiens Betting Analysis
While the Jets seem like the shoe-in here, keep in mind that road games have caused hiccups for this team. They’re just 2-4 in their last six away games. That should be offset by the fact that the Canadiens are a lousy home team, dropping four of their last five at home.
The Canadiens have played well in this series, cashing in three of the last four meetings. However, they have lost 20 of their last 23 against teams with a winning record while the Jets have won nine of their last 13 against losing teams.
Winnipeg Jets
The Jets are on a roll right now and unless they’re half asleep on Tuesday, they should earn an easy win. The Canadiens are one of the worst teams in the NHL that can’t get anything right. At the same time, the Jets are in the top three in the Western Conference and are red hot right now. They’ve won two straight and eight of their last nine NHL matchups. Looking even further back, you’d be hard-pressed to find a team that’s played batter since the middle of February. Since February 13th, this team is 17-5-1, which is incredible.
The Canadiens have just 20 goals in their last nine games and they’ve given up 31 in that span. That means they’re being outscored by an average of 3.4 to 2.3 per game. As long as the Jets stay focused, they’ll cruise here.
Montreal Canadiens
The Habs continue to be a complete failure and it looks like they’ll be heading towards some serious offseason changes. For now, they’ve lost two straight and 12 of their last 15. Their last two wins came against Buffalo and Detroit – two of the worst teams in the East – so it’s not as if their few wins are even of quality. Not much is going right for them. The Habs allowed 3.60 goals per game in March – the fifth-highest mark – and scored just 2.53 – the sixth-fewest – so that tells you right there why they’re so broken.
Is there hope for them on Tuesday? Not much but one thing that’s on their side is that the Jets could be fatigued. Winnipeg played on Saturday in Toronto and Ottawa on Monday, which means this will be their third game in four nights and fourth in six. The Habs could catch them a bit flatfooted.
