Boston Bruins vs. Toronto Maple Leafs Prediction, NHL Odds
Separated by just one point in the Atlantic Division, the stage is set for a big game on both sides in this one. The Leafs have been historically good in the month of November and are starting to find their stride this season. They have won their past three games, but there is no hotter team in the league than the B’s.
The NHL Odds have the Leafs as a -190 favourite to win at home on Saturday, with the total sitting at an even six goals. Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM EST.
Bruins vs. Maple Leafs NHL Betting Odds
This original six series will feature three games this season, beginning Saturday in Toronto. They meet again on Tuesday in Beantown, which should make for an absolute grudge match. Last year, they faced off four times, with Boston taking the opener at home before the Leafs took over, winning the final three games, outscoring the Bruins 18-12. The Leafs were the favourite in each game, going 2-2 against the spread and three of those four hit on the OVER.
At 16 games, the Bruins have played more games than anyone else in the NHL, rocking an impressive 12-4 record against the spread, covering in six of their past seven. Boston’s defensive game has been getting them in the win column lately, giving up just 2.2 goals per game over their past five and playing the UNDER in the three latest.
Maple Leafs games have been crazy high-scoring this season, putting the Leafs at 12-2 on the OVER/UNDER this year. They have hit the OVER in nine in a row, winning five of those contests. They are outscoring their issues right now, with their offence averaging 3.71 goals per game, second most in the league.
Boston Bruins
With just six seconds left in overtime, Boston’s Pavel Zacha tucked in a rebound to win the Bruins their fifth straight. The 3-2 win on Thursday over the Ottawa Senators marked back-to-back nights where they needed extra time to get the job done, but the win brings them to third in the division.
Unlike this past season, superstar David Pastrnak has some backup offensively. He still leads the team in scoring with 18 points (7G, 11A), but Zacha’s 14 points, Charlie McAvoy’s 12 assists and most impressively, Morgan Geekie’s 10 goals are all key parts of their winning record. Zacha is also currently riding a five-game point streak.
With Jonas Korpisalo getting the start on Thursday, expect to see Jeremy Swayman between the pipes on Saturday. He has been getting most starts for the B’s so far, but still has a sub-900 save percentage. Boston is struggling on the road this season, posting a 2-4 record and losing four of their past five.
Toronto Maple Leafs
Three wins in a row have given the Maple Leafs a perfect record so far this month. On Wednesday, they beat the Utah Mammoth 5-3 at home, improving their record at Scotiabank Arena to 7-2-1. They gave up the first goal of the game for the seventh straight game, but battled back with a pair in the second, sending it to the third tied at two. Three straight goals in the final frame brought the game to a 5-3 final, sweetening their record to 8-5-1.
William Nylander potted his sixth goal of the season and extended his point streak to eight games, picking up 16 points in the stretch. He leads the team with 20 points (6G, 14A) on the season.
Despite sitting in fourth place, the NHL Futures board has Toronto at +400 to win the Atlantic Division behind only the Tampa Bay Lightning. Only five points separate seven teams in the division, making this Saturday night an important two points.
