Boston Celtics vs. New York Knicks Game 6 Prediction, NBA Playoffs Odds

Playing without Jayson Tatum in Game 5 on Wednesday, the Boston Celtics made a statement to show why they’re the defending NBA champions in a 127-102 blowout victory. However, New York should still has to have a lot of confidence up 3-2 in the series and headed home for Game 6 on Friday night.

The Knicks are 2.5-point favourites to win on the NBA odds, with the total pegged at 211.5.

Celtics vs. Knicks NBA Betting Odds

The Celtics have to be kicking themselves after losing the first two games of this series at home, but they should still be feeling good headed to New York where they’ve won five of the last six meetings against the Knicks.

Ahead of Game 6, the series odds have New York as a -275 favourite to win on the NBA futures board, while Boston is a +225 underdog. If you think the road team will win the next two games, you can get the Knicks to win the series in seven games at +475.

There’s probably not many people who thought Boston would have the longest NBA championship odds by the Game 6 mark of the second round, but that’s where they sit at +1300. For context, the Celtics began the series with the second shortest championship odds at +195.

Oddsmakers are all-in on New York to come out of the Eastern Conference. The Knicks, who have the third-shortest NBA championship odds at +500, are also +125 favourites to win the Eastern Conference. Obviously that means that not only are they favoured to beat Boston in this round, they should also be favoured to beat Indiana in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Boston Celtics

The Celtics will have to play without Tatum in their lineup well into next season, if not all of next year, so it’s comforting for fans to see them roll to a blowout win in Game 5. Derrick White picked up the slack, finishing with a game-high 34 points, while Jaylen Brown came close to a triple-double with 26 points, eight rebounds and 12 assists. White had seven of Boston’s 22 3-pointers, with the team shooting 44.9 per cent from beyond the arc. The Celtics’ success from deep has dictated every game of this series, so you can expect that to be a major factor again in Game 6. If Boston does manage to pull off wins in the next two games, they’ll be just the 14th team ever to successfully comeback from a 3-1 series deficit in 249 attempts.

New York Knicks

Josh Hart led the way for New York in Game 5, dropping a team-high 24 points. Jalen Brunson added 22 points and Karl-Anthony Towns had 19 points and eight rebounds. Hart briefly had to leave the game in the first quarter to deal with a bloody gash just over his left eye, although it shouldn’t affect his status for Friday. OG Anunoby’s hot and cold series continued in Game 5. Anunoby shot just 1-for-12 from the field and 1-for-5 from beyond the arc for six points. He has a combined eight points in the Knicks’ two playoff losses to Boston compared to 29 points in Game 1 and 20 in Game 4. Anunoby simply has to be better for New York to win.
