Broncos vs. Chargers Point Spread: NFL Week 16 Odds, Prediction
That doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of storylines heading into the second-last game of the regular season for both teams, with Los Angeles looking to avenge an earlier loss to the Broncos and both sides hoping to see further growth out of their respective young quarterbacks.
NFL Week 16 Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Chargers come into this one as a three-point favourite – the exact margin of victory of each of their previous two games, both wins. Sports Interaction respondents are taking the Chargers ATS at an 83-percent clip, but there are plenty of trends pointing in the opposite direction. Los Angeles has covered just two of its last eight games, while the Broncos are 5-2 ATS in their last seven on the road. Denver has also covered four of the past five head-to-head meetings.
This game boasts a total of 49, with 71 percent of the Sports Interaction crowd siding with the Over. And again, this goes against some significant trends between the Broncos and Chargers – most notably, that their 61-point encounter Nov. 1 marked the first time in 12 meetings that the teams had combined for more than 50 points. Denver is 4-2 to the Under in its past six games, while the Chargers have gone below the total in nine of their last 13 home games.
Denver Broncos
What will the Broncos focus on over their final two games? Drew Lock will be the No. 1 priority, as he looks to put a bow on what has been an up-and-down season. The second-year QB now has 16 career starts under his belt, and while the raw numbers aren’t encouraging – he has thrown for 3,350 yards with 21 touchdowns and 16 interceptions – he has flashed brilliance, particularly in the previous meeting with the Chargers (248 yards, three TDs).
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers are in much better position at QB as they wind down what has been a mostly disappointing season. Justin Herbert has been a revelation, keeping pace with some of the greatest rookie seasons in the history of the league. He enters Week 16 ranked eighth in the NF in passing yards (3,781) and tied for ninth in touchdown passes (27) despite having played one fewer game than every player ahead of him on both lists.
