This is the first meeting of the season between these two teams.

Senators vs. Sabres NHL Betting Odds

Buffalo enters at -130 on the NHL odds board, while Ottawa is +110 to find the win column on the road.

At +130, Buffalo’s Tage Thompson has the shortest odds of any player to score a goal in this game. Thompson has potted 40+ goals in back-to-back seasons and is off to a strong start with 10 goals in 14 games this year.

With odds of +150, Ottawa’s Tim Stutzle has the shortest odds of any Senator to score a goal in the contest. Stutzle scored 34 goals in 80 games last season and has found the back of the net nine times in his first 16 games of the 2026-27 campaign.

Ottawa Senators

Brady Tkachuk is gone, but Ottawa is still a well-rounded team.

With an overall record of 9-6-1, the Senators’ 19 points on the season has them third in the Atlantic division. The Senators are a strong 5-2-0 on home ice, but a more pedestrian 4-4-1 on the road. Their goal differential on the season sits at +1.

Stutzle is enjoying a tremendous start to the season. He leads the Senators with 21 points through 16 games. Along with Stutzle, five other Senators have already reached double-digit points: Drake Batherson (18), Shane Pinto (11), Jake Sanderson (10), Dylan Cozens (10), and Claude Giroux (10).

Linus Ullmark was off to a strong start between the pipes, but he is now on IR with a lower body injury. It’s a tough blow for Ottawa, as their goaltending situation takes a big step back without Ullmark in the mix.

Samuel Ersson owns a 3.78 goals-against average and .866 save percentage in seven outings, while Jonas Johansson is sporting a less-than-ideal 4.60 goals-against average to go along with an .848 save percentage in four appearances.

Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres are 7-4-3, and their 17 points are tied with the Red Wings for the fewest in the Atlantic division. The Sabres are 3-3-0 at home and 4-1-3 on the road, while their goal differential on the season sits at -6.

Tage Thompson leads the Sabres with 17 points on the season. He has 10 goals and seven assists, with two goals and three assists coming on the power play. Jack Quinn is enjoying what could be the start of a breakout campaign, as he has potted eight goals and dished out six assists for 14 points in 14 games.

Special teams have been an area of weakness for Buffalo so far this season. The Sabres’ power play is clicking at a measly 17.0%, which ranks 23rd in the NHL. The penalty kill is operating at a 68.6% clip, which ranks 29th in the league.

NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Senators vs. Sabres?

The Senators have a tricky scheduling dynamic at play here. They are playing their fifth straight road game, and the first four games came on the West Coast. They then traveled back east, and now have to face a hungry Sabres team in their home barn.

Ottawa’s goaltending situation is also in a tough spot without Ullmark available. Playing on home ice, look for the Sabres to find the win column in this one.
