Vancouver Canucks vs. Edmonton Oilers Prediction, NHL Odds
Vancouver was able to snap a two-game losing streak by taking down the Seattle Kraken 6-5 in a shootout in their latest outing. As for the Oilers, they snapped a three-game losing streak by beating the Dallas Stars 6-3. Both teams are coming off wins and don’t want to fall back into bad habits. Which of them will come out on top here?
Edmonton is a -227 favourite to win on the NHL odds.
Canucks vs. Oilers NHL Betting Odds
The Canucks have won five straight versus teams from the Pacific Division and are 6-0 in their past six games played on the road. They are also 7-3 in their last 10 games against the Western Conference. As for the total, the over is 22-8-1 in their last 31 games played on the road. Unfortunately, though, Vancouver has lost five straight against Edmonton.
The Oilers have won seven straight Friday games and are 32-12 in their past 44 matchups against teams from the Pacific Division. As for the total, the over is 18-7-2 in their last 27 games overall.
One thing to note: the favourite has won the last five meetings between the Canucks and Oilers.
Vancouver Canucks
Goaltending continues to be a massive problem for the Canucks this season. They allow the third-most goals per game with none of their goalies providing the type of consistency that they were hoping for. Thatcher Demko was the starter at the beginning of the year before his injury and is now 3-10-2 overall. He’s essentially lost his spot to Spencer Martin, though.
Martin has been better statistically than Demko, but not by much. He’s 10-5-1 on the season but he’s got a 3.66 GAA and an .884 save percentage. To put these numbers into perspective, Demko has a 3.93 GAA and a .883 save percentage. The difference is that the Canucks are scoring more when Martin is in net – for whatever reason. Neither goalie has great numbers and it’s going to continue damaging them until they fix that problem.
Edmonton Oilers
Edmonton has a good matchup here as their offence is one of the best in the league going against a horrible Vancouver defence. They are the third-best offence in terms of goals per game as Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 when it comes to total points. McDavid is at 65 and Draisaitl is trailing right behind him at 55.
The scariest part is that both McDavid and Draisaitl have plenty of depth behind them. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has recorded 41 points and Zach Hyman is at 35. If they can dictate the pace here and make this an offence-oriented contest, they should come away with the win. However, over might be the best bet overall.
