St. Louis Blues vs. Edmonton Oilers Prediction, NHL Odds

Edmonton, still without Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid in their lineup, are returning from a southwest trip that ended with a pair of losses in California and more injuries – namely to Draisaitl and Trent Frederic. A 3-4 stretch in the past two weeks has all but assured the Oilers will finish the regular season in third in the Pacific Division, making healing up before the playoffs the top priority in Edmonton.

St. Louis’ franchise-record 12-game win streak came to an end on Monday night in Winnipeg. Regardless, the late-season tear has positioned the Blues into the top Wild-Card spot in the West, one they will likely hold when it’s all said and done.

Puck drop at Rogers Place is set for 10 p.m. EDT with the Oilers a slight moneyline favourite at -125 odds and the over-under at 5.5 on the NHL odds.

Blues vs. Oilers NHL Betting Odds

The Oilers are going for a season sweep of the Blues, with a pair of Edmonton wins coming earlier in the year; the Blues scored just two goals in each loss. Edmonton’s won four of their last six meetings hosting St. Louis and are 23-12-3 overall on home ice this season.

The Blues tightened up their game defensively over their franchise-record win streak and as a result, six of their last nine outings have finished under the total, including four of the last five appearances on the road. Wednesday’s the second of a three-game road trip for St. Louis. The Blues have not allowed more than two goals against in a road game since March 7. Five straight Oilers games have finished under the total as the offence dips without their two superstars in the lineup.

St. Louis Blues

Monday’s loss was the Blues first since March 13. And they laid a dud — registering just 15 shots in Winnipeg. It was a rare test before the post-season that the Blues failed; only four of St. Louis’ 12 wins over their franchise-best win streak came against teams currently in the playoffs. Wednesday can act as a form of redemption though, as going on the road to Edmonton is no easy task regardless of who the Oilers are dressing.

One streak that didn’t end on Monday was Robert Thomas’ now nine-game point streak. Thomas has 18 points over his last eight showings and is a single point shy of his career-high of 77, set back in 2021–22.

Joel Hofer started in net on Monday and stopped 23 of 25 shots faced. Hofer ascended to a .917 save percentage throughout March in which he appeared in seven games. Regardless, expect Jordan Binnington to start on Wednesday. Binnington is 27-21-4 this season with a .902 save percentage, slightly below Hofer’s .904 mark on the year.

Edmonton Oilers

The shorthanded Oilers put forth a much better effort on Monday, falling 3-2 in Anaheim but outshooting the Ducks 49-21 and coming extremely close to forcing overtime. Adam Henrique, centring Edmonton’s second line between Zach Hyman and Corey Perry, notched a goal and an assist in Monday’s loss. Evan Bouchard recorded his 50th assist of the season on Monday, doing so for the second time this season. Bouchard is one of three Oilers over 50 points this season — and the other two are the injured Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid.

Olivier Rodrigue made his first NHL start in net on Monday and let in three goals on 21 shots. Expect Calvin Pickard to be between the pipes on Wednesday. Pickard has been Edmonton’s top goalie this season, going 20-9-1 with a .902 save percentage.
