Joseph Woll

Woll has missed Toronto’s last four games while dealing with a lower-body injury.

The 27-year-old has posted a 4-3-1 record this season, with a .928 save percentage and 2.44 goals-against average. He missed all of training camp and the first 18 games of the season for personal reasons.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Woll’s return is a welcome sight for the Maple Leafs, who went 1-1-2 in his absence. With Anthony Stolarz also on the shelf, Toronto has been forced to go deep into their goalie depth, calling up Dennis Hildeby and Artur Akhtyamov from the AHL.

In seven NHL starts (11 appearances) this season, Hildeby is 2-3-3 with a .923 SV and 2.72 GAA.

Akhtyamov hasn’t made an appearance with the big club.

Head coach Craig Berube also provided an update on Stolarz. The 31-year-old is set to see another specialist for his upper-body injury, which is not concussion related.

“He’s [Stolarz] not making the progress that we thought he would make,” said Berube.

Stolarz hasn’t played or even skated since Nov. 11. He was struggling before the injury, going 6-5-1 with an ugly .884 SV and 3.51 GAA.

Toronto sits 14th in the Eastern Conference standings with a 14-12-5 record, which puts them five points out of the second wild-card spot. Oddsmakers don’t have much faith in a bounce back as the Leafs are +130 to make the playoffs and -155 to miss.
