Edmonton Oilers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins: Same-game parlay for Tuesday, Dec. 16

The Edmonton Oilers and Pittsburgh Penguins meet on Tuesday night for the first time since swapping goalies last week.

Edmonton has dominated this head-to-head in recent years, winning seven of the last eight meetings. The Oilers are also trending in a better direction, going 6-3-1 over their last 10 games, while Pittsburgh has dropped five straight.

With that in mind, I’m targeting a parlay that focuses on Tristan Jarry and Connor McDavid leading Edmonton to a road victory.

Here’s what I have for a three-leg parlay priced at +390:

  • Oilers moneyline (-145)
  • Tristan Jarry Over 23.5 saves (-118)
  • Connor McDavid Over 2.5 shots (-175)

Oilers moneyline

In addition to winning seven of the last eight head-to-heads overall, the Oilers have also claimed victory in four of their last five trips to Pittsburgh.

After dominating in Toronto on Saturday, Edmonton dropped a tough back-to-back spot in Montreal on Sunday. This is a chance to rebound against a struggling Penguins team that is dealing with injuries to key players like Evgeni Malkin and suffering from a lack of depth.

Tristan Jarry Over 23.5 saves

There’s plenty of motivation for any player who has been traded when they face their former team for the first time, but I like Tristan Jarry’s chances better than Stuart Skinner’s. Jarry turned aside 25 of 28 shots in his Oilers debut, a 6-3 win in Toronto, while Skinner will be playing his first game for the Penguins on Tuesday.

This simply comes down which team I expect to capitalize more against a familiar goalie. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have combined for 36 points over the last 10 games and I expect them to light up their former ‘tender on Tuesday.

Connor McDavid Over 2.5 shots

Speaking of Connor McDavid, I like the Over on his shot total against Pittsburgh. Edmonton’s captain is on an absolute heater with multiple points and three or more shots in six of his last seven games. He should be able to capitalize against a Pittsburgh team that gives up the 10th most shots per game (28.9) in the NHL.
