The Oilers are coming off 4-3 victory over Los Angeles to move to within three points of the Kings in the hunt for second place in the Pacific Division. The Blues swept this week’s a home-and-home series with the slumping Vancouver Canucks, capped by Wednesday’s 4-3 win in Vancouver, and are looking to win three in a row for the first time since late February.

The Oilers are -153 favourites to win in Friday’s contest. Backed by just 40 per cent of sports bettors, the Blues have faded to +127 underdogs since opening as a +114 bet. The total has held steady since opening at 6.5. But the OVER has emerged as -117 chalk while attracting 71 per cent of the betting action.

Blues vs. Oilers NHL Betting Odds

Friday night’s matchup at Rogers Place marks the third and final regular season meeting between these clubs, and the Blues’ first visit to Edmonton since January 2020. St. Louis tallied a 4-2 home victory back on December 29, and have earned the win in two of their past three trips to Edmonton. Home teams have claimed victory in four of six dates between these teams. And when home teams win, they tend to do so decisively, with eight of the past 10 victories coming by multi-goal margins. The Blues and Oilers have scored more than six total goals just three teams in their past six matchups, fuelling an uneven 3-2-1 run for the OVER in totals betting during that stretch.

The Blues have maintained a slender grasp on third place in the Central Division standings despite falling to defeat in nine of 14 outings. However, the club showed signs of turning things around during this past week’s two-game tilt with Vancouver. St. Louis has also won three of four on the road, ending a three-game slide. The Oilers have been dominant during their current 9-0-0 run at home, outscoring opponents by a wide 42-19 margin, and have seen the OVER prevail on eight occasions.

St. Louis Blues

Netminder Ville Husso overcame a shaky start to backstop the Blues to Wednesday’s victory in Vancouver. The 27-year-old Finn has now earned the win in three of his past four starts, but has compiled a middling .881 save percentage over his past five outings. Fortunately for Husso, the Blues attack has steadily produced on the road of late, averaging five goals per game over their past four outings. Robert Thomas continued to lead the way with a shorthanded goal in Wednesday’s victory, and has now potted five goals and 11 points over his past seven outings.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers escaped with the win over LA despite blowing an early two-goal lead, and earned at least a point in 11 of their 15 contests during the month of March. Leon Draisaitl maintained his recent torrid pace with his 49th goal of the season in Wednesday’s contest, and has now potted eight goals during a five-game scoring streak. The big German also scored twice and added a pair of helpers in the Oilers’ two previous dates with St. Louis.
