The Argos dropped to 2-1 on the season following last week’s 30-20 home loss against Montreal. The Riders had a bye last week, but improved to 3-0 with a 36-20 blowout win against Hamilton in Week 3.

Toronto opened as a 3.5-point favourite to win on the CFL odds, with the total set at 48.5.

CFL Odds and Betting

It’s been all Argonauts in recent head-to-heads, with Toronto sweeping the last two season series’. The teams have generally combined for high scoring affairs, with the Over hitting in five of the last six games.

That high scoring trend has continued for both teams this season as Saskatchewan has hit the Over in all three games and Toronto has finished above the total in two of three. The Roughriders have also covered in every game, while the Argos are 1-2 against the spread.

Saskatchewan and Toronto remain among the favourites to win the Grey Cup on the CFL futures board. The Riders are +475, while the Argos are +500. Only Montreal (+275) and BC (+300) have shorter odds.

Toronto Argonauts

Toronto had their home unbeaten streak snapped at 11 games with last week’s loss to the streaking Alouettes. The Argos are the last team to beat Montreal with a 23-20 win last September, a span of almost 300 days.

Cameron Dukes stumbled for the first time this season, completing 22 of 32 pass attempts with no touchdowns and one interception. It was Dukes’ first pick of the season. The 25-year-old, filling in for the suspended Chad Kelly, has had a solid season overall, completing 76.3 per cent of his pass attempts for 667 yards, five TDs and one interception.

Backup quarterback Bryan Scott looked good last week against Montreal. Scott completed all five of his pass attempts for 79 yards and connected on a touchdown pass with Makai Polk, who finished with a team-high 60 receiving yards.

One thing to consider for this game is Toronto’s defence. The Argos have the second-best rush defence in the CFL, allowing an average of just 40.0 yards per game. Saskatchewan, on the other hand, has the worst rushing offence in the league, with 57.7 yards per game. The Riders will also be without their starting quarterback, so they’ll be forced to rely more on running the ball.

Saskatchewan Roughriders

Saskatchewan remained undefeated with a convincing Week 3 victory over Hamilton. The game was out of hand pretty quick, with the Riders taking a 17-0 lead after the first quarter. Trevor Harris completed 16 of 21 pass attempts for 177 yards, two TDs and an interception before suffering a left knee injury and leaving in the second quarter. Running back A.J. Ouellette had an impressive performance, leading the team in both rushing yards (98) and receiving yards (47). Ajou Ajou and Samuel Emilus each had a receiving touchdown.

The big concern right now is obviously the status of Harris after it was announced he is expected to miss four to six weeks with that was described as a “moderate MCL sprain”. The 38-year-old Harris, who has thrown for 872 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions this season, suffered a season-ending injury to his right knee after five games last year.

Shea Patterson will take over as starting QB. Patterson, who played a handful of games for Montreal and Saskatchewan over the last few years, completed four of 10 pass attempts last week, finishing with 41 yards while adding a rushing touchdown.
