The Match 6: Golf Betting Odds
Brady and Rodgers are -175 favorites on the golf odds with Mahomes and Allen +125.
The Match 6 is being held at Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas and is the first time the event doesn’t feature any PGA Tour professionals. Wynn Golf Club also hosted the Match 5 between pros Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka last year, and Koepka won the scheduled 12-hole event 4 and 3.
Manning has played in two matches, winning in May 2020 with Tiger Woods 1 up over Phil Mickelson and Brady and then losing in November 2020 with Stephen Curry to Mickelson and Charles Barkley 4 and 3. Brady also played last July in the Match 4 with Mickelson and they lost 3 and 2 to DeChambeau and Rodgers.
The Match 6 is also scheduled for 12 holes (basically the holes that look the “best” on TV) and is a shamble format, which means each team uses its best drive and then plays to the hole and then the best score from each side will count. It’s a variation on traditional best-ball play. The event will raise millions of dollars for charity, and believe me there will be a lot of trash talk.
“We have the experience,” Rodgers said. “Tommy’s played a ton of Pebble Beach events; he’s played The Match a number of times. I’ve played in Pebble and Tahoe. We’ve got a decided advantage.”
It is thought that Rodgers is the best player of the four. His Green Bay Packers didn’t play Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers last NFL season, but the Bucs won at Lambeau in an upset in the NFC title game following the 2020 season on the way to Brady winning his record seventh Super Bowl. Green Bay visits Tampa Bay in Week 3 this year.
Allen’s Buffalo Bills beat Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs in Week 5 of last season but lost in Kansas City 42-36 in overtime in the divisional round of the playoffs. Mahomes also beat Allen in the AFC title game following the 2020 season only to lose to Brady in Super Bowl LV. The Chiefs visit Tampa Bay this year in Week 4 and host Buffalo in Week 6. The Bills host the Packers in Week 8.
“We’re not just doing this to do it,” Allen said. “We want to win. We don’t want to lose, to those two guys especially. We don’t want them to hang this over our heads.”
The Match 6 Prediction
We’ll go with Brady and Rodgers simply they have done this before and have been golfing longer overall than their younger counterparts.
