Chiefs vs. Broncos Week 8 Betting Odds, Prediction and Picks: AFC West Lead on the Line

Kansas City visits Empower Field at Mile High on Sunday with first place in the AFC West on the line, as the 5-1 Chiefs try to bounce back from their first loss of the season against a 5-2 Denver team that has won three in a row.

The Chiefs looked like the class of the AFC through five games, but Seattle’s defence held them to 213 total yards and a lone field goal in a 20-3 defeat last Sunday night.

RB Kenneth Walker III, who entered Week 7 leading the NFL at 133 rushing yards per game, managed just 36 yards on 14 carries against his former team.

Denver, meanwhile, rolled past Arizona 30-16 on the strength of a handful of explosive plays. QB Bo Nix broke loose for a career-long 62-yard touchdown run and finished with 73 rushing yards after totalling just 37 over his first six games, while RB RJ Harvey turned a short screen into a 52-yard score.

These teams opened the season against each other on Monday Night Football, and Kansas City dominated, 31-10. Walker ran for 173 yards and two touchdowns, Patrick Mahomes accounted for three scores in his first game back from a serious left knee injury, and the Broncos managed just 176 total yards with two Nix turnovers.

The biggest injury storyline is in Denver. CB Pat Surtain II (ankle), who hasn’t played since Week 4, was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice and is expected back, but WR Jaylen Waddle (chest) and DL Zach Allen (hamstring) both sat out.

Chiefs vs. Broncos Kickoff, Weather, TV, Streaming Info

The NFL confirms Chiefs-Broncos for Sunday, November 1 at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS in the U.S. In Canada, DAZN’s NFL Game Pass is the reliable nationwide streaming option.

Highs are expected around 17C , with an unsettled system that could bring rain to the area late Sunday into Monday.

NFL Betting Odds, Point Spread, Trends

Kansas City opened as a 1.5-point road favourite, and the spread hasn’t budged, with the Chiefs at -1.5 (-105) and the Broncos at +1.5 (-115). The money line is close to a coin flip; the Chiefs are -120 favourites, and the Broncos sit at +100. The total is where the market has moved most, falling from an opener of 43.5 to 40.5.

That move lines up with the trends. The Under has cashed in five of Denver’s seven games and four of Kansas City’s six, and it is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings between these teams.

Both sides have been profitable against the spread. The Chiefs are 5-1 ATS, and the Broncos are 5-2 ATS, though Denver holds the edge in this rivalry at 7-3 ATS over the last 10 meetings.

NFL Player Odds and Props

Denver Broncos

Nix’s legs could be the swing factor in his rushing markets. He managed only 37 rushing yards across his first six games before last week’s 73-yard outing in Arizona, so books may be slow to adjust. His rushing yards total is just 17.5; he only recorded two rushing yards in their Week 1 loss against KC.

Kansas City Chiefs

Walker remains the centrepiece of the Chiefs’ offence and the most likely touchdown scorer on the board. Denver is allowing 133.3 rushing yards per game, one of the league’s weaker marks. Walker’s anytime TD odds sit at -150.

Kansas City Chiefs

Nix has thrown for 1,271 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions while completing just 59.2% of his passes. Denver ranks 30th in total offence at 270.0 yards per game and 24th in scoring at 20.6 points per game, and J.K. Dobbins is averaging only 3.4 yards per carry. The defence has carried this team. The Broncos lead the NFL with 21 sacks, added three more with 12 quarterback hits against Arizona, and sit sixth in turnover differential at +4.

Waddle, Denver’s leading receiver with 26 catches for 276 yards, is in question after re-aggravating a chest injury. Safety Talanoa Hufanga (ankle) also missed practice after sitting out the last two games, while LT Garett Bolles (hip) and WR Marvin Mims Jr. (ankle) were limited.

Denver Broncos

Mahomes has 1,474 passing yards, nine touchdowns and four interceptions, and he practised in full Wednesday despite a knee designation. The Chiefs rank sixth in total offence at 379.8 yards per game, with Walker piling up 701 rushing yards and six touchdowns at 5.8 yards per carry.

Kansas City’s defence ranks third in turnover differential at +5 but has generated only eight sacks, 30th in the league. TE Travis Kelce, who moved into fifth place on the NFL’s all-time receptions list last week, leads the team with 343 receiving yards.

WR Rashee Rice (hamstring, knee) returned to practice on a limited basis, and RT Jaylon Moore was a full participant after missing the Seattle game with a concussion. CB L’Jarius Sneed (personal, knee) did not practice.
