Seattle Storm vs. Atlanta Dream Odds: WNBA Preview, Picks and Prediction
The Dream jumped out to a fantastic 12-4 start but are quickly descending to .500. They recently completed an 0-4 road trip, then dropped the first of a four-game homestand on Saturday to the Golden State Valkyries, 88-83.
Allisha Gray had 22 points, Rhyne Howard added 19 and Angel Reese had 17 points and 13 rebounds, but Atlanta still lost to the Valkyries for the third time in 11 days.
Meanwhile, Seattle is slated to miss the postseason for just the second time in the past 11 years. The Storm started 3-15 but have since gone 3-2, relying primarily on an emerging group of youngsters.
Rookie Flau’jae Johnson had 23 points, while Natisha Hiedeman added 15 points and 6 rebounds as Seattle defeated Los Angeles, 82-64, on Monday.

Seattle Storm
Hiedeman has been a steal for the Storm. She spent five years in Connecticut and the past two with the Lynx, but she may have found a home in Seattle. The eight-year veteran is averaging career highs in points, rebounds and assists, and her 15.4 points per game is second on the team.
The youngsters are working well with her. After spending her rookie season in a reserve role, Dominique Malonga now leads the Storm with 15.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. She also pulled down nine rebounds against the Sparks. Awa Fam, the third overall pick in this year’s draft, is averaging 11.7 points and 5.4 rebounds.
Johnson, the rookie guard out of LSU, may be the best of the bunch. She is third among rookies at 12.7 points per game and leads all first-year players with 5.4 rebounds. She had 24 points and 11 rebounds while Fam scored 21 points in a 105-90 victory over the Dream last month.
Atlanta Dream
This feels like a minor speed bump more than a 20-car pileup for the Dream. There is just too much talent here, and Reese, who is averaging 14.9 points and a league-leading 11.8 rebounds, has fit in perfectly.
Howard is averaging 18.9 points and is second in the league with 3.3 made three-pointers per game, while Jordin Canada is fourth in the WNBA with seven assists per game. Howard and Canada are also 1-2 in the league in steals.
Howard had 27 points, followed by Reese with 17 points and nine rebounds, Allisha Gray with 15 points and Canada with eight points and 10 assists in that 15-point loss at Seattle in June.
WNBA Prediction: Who will win Storm vs. Dream?
Seattle has something good going right now, but this will still be a growing season for such a young squad – similar to what the Mystics went through with Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron last season.
The Dream have to be chomping at the bit to end this losing streak. Look for them to return the favour for last month with a 96-86 triumph.
