Tottenham vs. Manchester City Prediction: EPL Odds and Preview
You may think Man City holds a dominant status throughout the history of these matchups, but over 164 meetings between the two sides, Tottenham leads with 65 wins to Man City’s 64.
It’s still early in the season to predict which team will finish higher in the EPL, but this matchup is certainly a good gauge for which side may be favoured. Manchester City took home a win in the last meeting at the end of the 2024-25 EPL season, but with new signings in the mix, can Tottenham turn it around for a big win?
Tottenham vs. Manchester City EPL Odds and Betting Trends
After three confrontations between these two powerhouses in the 2024-25 season, Tottenham surprisingly came out on top with two wins, a 2-1 victory in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup in Oct 2024, and a 4-0 blowout in the EPL in Nov 2024.
Manchester City grabbed the most recent 1-0 win in February 2025 in Matchweek 27 of last year’s Premier League. Modern English Soccer fanatics may find it odd that Tottenham has outshone Man City in recent matches with a 2-1 lead in the last three games, but City is as strong as ever, so this matchup may not be so easy for the Hotspurs today.
Tottenham
Tottenham had a major scare last season, avoiding relegation by just one spot, finishing at 17th place with 38 points and an 11-5-22 record at the end of last season. However, they won the Europa League Final against all odds and qualified for this year’s UEFA Champions League as a result. Their first game of this Premier League season was very promising, ending in a 3-0 win against Burnley, with leading goalscorer Richarlison carving the path to victory.
With the new signing, Mohammed Kudus, helping the right wing of the Spurs with two assists in his first match, Spurs may have completely turned it around from the end of last season. It will be hard to outpossess Manchester City, but if Tottenham can put up close to as many shots as they did last game (16), they should find the back of the net at least once.
Manchester City
Manchester City concluded a very uncharacteristic 2024-25 season with no silverware. However, they still participated in the Club World Cup, Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and finished third in the EPL with 71 points and a 21-8-9 record. For their first game of the 2025-26 EPL season, Manchester City destroyed Wolverhampton with a 4-0 result, with two goals coming from striker Erling Haaland.
Both new signings, Tijjani Reijnders and Ryan Ait-Nouri, started for their side to help secure the win, with Reijnders earning his first goal and assist of the season. All Man City need to do is replicate their playstyle from the last game (15 shots and 59% possession) while preventing counterattacks from Tottenham, and they should find success.
EPL Prediction: Who Will Win Tottenham vs. Manchester City?
Tottenham may look very promising with their recent results, but Burnley was not a particularly threatening side. While the same can be said for Wolves, Man City looked similar to their previous champion-winning side, and I don’t expect them to have trouble hitting the back of the net.
Richarlison can be a major threat to City’s defense if he mirrors his incredible finishing ability against Burnley, but the Citizens have 2022 and 2023 EPL golden boot winner Erling Haaland (22 goals last season) to match. I love Haaland to score at any time at -145 odds, and with Tottenham unfavored to win at +525, I’m going with a Man City victory at -210 odds. I’ll also be sprinkling a 3-1 final scoreline at +950.
