Wild vs Jets Stanley Cup Playoffs Betting Analysis
The Minnesota Wild are not having much luck in Winnipeg the last little while, currently 0-5 in the last five games. The home team in this series is 5-1 in the last six games, and the under is 2-1-1 in this series (the total has been 5.5 goals the entire series). The Jets have been a very good Friday night team, going 5-0 in their last five Friday appearances. Also, dating back to the end of the regular season, the Wild have won just one road game in their last seven tries.
Minnesota Wild
This is it for the Minnesota Wild. Every game is a must win for the team if they are going to continue in this post season. Once again, they are going to have to do it without forward Zach Parise. It caught everyone by surprise when it was announced just hours before game four that Parise would miss the rest of the post season. He already has three goals in this post season, and was riding a hot hand down the stretch in March, with 10 goals in 15 games.
For the first time in the series the Wild actually outshot the Jets in the game four loss, now they return to Winnipeg – where the Jets dominated the Wild in that category 84-37. The Wild have recalled forwards Kurtis Gabriel, Justin Kloos, Kyle Rau, Sam Anas, Ivan Lodnia and Zack Mitchell from the AHL as Head Coach Bruce Boudreau has a lot of options for Friday night’s game.
Winnipeg Jets
It was a great bounce back game for Connor Hellebuyck in game four as he blanked the Wild 2-0. Maybe it was the news earlier that day that he was a finalist for the Vezina trophy, or maybe he wanted to show that his game 3 flop (allowed six goals on 16 shots) was just a blip on the radar. As Hellebuyck goes, so do the Jets, and he will start game five on Friday night. One player the Jets won’t have in the line-up is defenceman Josh Morrissey. Morrissey was assessed a one game suspension for his cross check on Wild center Eric Staal. Morrissey wasn’t called on a penalty at that time, but the head offices looked at the video Wednesday and suspended him for one game.
It should be interesting to see who will draw into the line-up in game five with Tucker Poolman already in for Tyler Myers, there is some talk that Toby Enstrom could be returning from injury. Also Manitoba Moose defenceman Sami Niku could be recalled on Friday morning.
