Stars vs. Blues Game 5 Prediction: NHL PLayoffs Betting Odds

It’s down to a best-of-three series between these two Central division rivals. Both the Stars and Blues have split the home and home series, and now they head back to St. Louis for a game five.

Stars vs Blues Stanley Cup Betting Analysis

The Stars are 8-3 (straight up) in the last 11 games against the Blues, but St. Louis has won two of the last three games.

The home team has had the advantage in this series going 9-5 in the last 14 games. Although these two teams have played to the under for a record of 5-4-1 last 10 games, they have strung together a streak of three consecutive games of going over the posted total five goals. Could that goal total move up by half a goal in game five?

Dallas Stars

Head Coach Jim Montgomery made a massive change to his lineup prior to game four by switching up his two top lines. Tyler Seguin skated on a line with Jason Dickinson and Mats Zuccarello. While rookie Roope Hintz moved onto a line with Jamie Benn and Alex Radulov. The move paid off with a big performance by the entire top six, as they combined for two goals and seven assists or 75 percent of the team’s offence in the 4-2 win.

Roope Hintz’s goal set a new Dallas Stars franchise record scoring his fifth of the post season in the win.

Interesting stat of the series for the Stars; Ben Bishop has posted a save percentage below .880 only twice since Christmas: game one and game three of this series against the Blues.

St. Louis Blues

Although the Blues opened up the scoring in this game, they quite simply were not in this game. The team showed up flat, and the final result now has the series tied at two games each.

The loss marks the first time this playoff season that the Blues fell short on road game this post season. Previous to this game, the Blues were 4-0 away from St. Louis in the playoffs.

The Blues need to find some quality secondary scoring if successful in this series. One player under in particular, Alex Steen, has come under fire as of late. Steen has only one goal this post season, and hasn’t scored a goal in his last seven games.

Of note, the Blues directed 29 shots on Ben Bishop in the game four loss, and in the process also had 20 shots blocked by Stars’ players in the offensive zone. These are opportunities that must find the net.
