Sharks vs Avalanche Stanley Cup Playoffs Betting Analysis
Game 2 between the Sharks and the Avs saw goals from familiar faces, with Gabriel Landeskog getting the first one, Tyson Barrie getting a tie-breaker with an assist from Mikko Rantanen, and a goal apiece for Matt Nieto and Nathan MacKinnon. Philipp Grubauer made 31 saves. The 4-3 Colorado victory earned the Avs a split at the SAP Center, which is a comfortable position for the team as they welcome the Sharks to Denver Tuesday night.
“To come home with a split, we know how important that is for a series,” Gabriel Landeskog said. “I’m not saying it’s game over if it’s 2-0 for them, but we’d definitely be in a hole. Now all of a sudden the series is shifting back to Denver and we got a split and all of a sudden it’s home-ice advantage for us.”
The Sharks got huge production from Brent Burns in Game 2, who got two goals for his club. Evander Kane made it 3 for San Jose and goalie Martin Jones made 28 saves.
San Jose Sharks
The San Jose bench has definitely been weakened by the injuries to Joe Pavelski and Joonas Donskoi. Donskoi and Pavelski have been out since that controversial Game 7 against the Knights. Both of their injuries are listed as undisclosed.
The Sharks player who has, unsurprisingly, risen to the occasion is Brent Burns. Burns is like kryptonite to this Avalanche club, and in the five games against Colorado this season including the first two playoff matchups, he has 14 points. He leads the team in this series so far with seven points and three goals. Burns was the highest scoring defenseman in the league in the 2018-19 season, racking up a whopping 83 points.
Colorado Avalanche
Maybe he was tired of the media repeating the same three names when talking about the Avalanche’s playoff performances so far? Colorado defenseman Tyson Barrie put himself in the spotlight once again on Sunday by scoring a goal and getting two assists towards his team’s 4-3 win. He had some thoughts about why his team has the momentum they need right now to go all the way in these playoffs.
“I think, after Game 1 in Calgary, we kind of took a step back and were like, ‘wow, we think we’re a better hockey team than these guys,’ and we proved that in the first round, and that gave us confidence,” he said to the press. “Then, coming in here, that first game, I thought we played a real good first period and first half of the second period and controlled a lot of the play. It got away from us a little bit, but we’re just a team that feels like we can play with anybody and dictate the pace of the play. So it’s good for confidence going forward.”
