Ottawa Senators vs. Edmonton Oilers Prediction, NHL Odds

The Edmonton Oilers aim to snap a two-game home losing streak and their slide down the Western Conference standings when they host the surging Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night in NHL betting action at Rogers Place.

The Oilers return home after closing out a four-game road trip with Saturday’s 5-4 loss in San Jose that marks their fifth defeat in six games, and leaves them clinging to the second wild card in the West.

The Senators opened a five-game road trip with Saturday’s decisive 5-2 win in Toronto, and have now claimed victory in six of eight outings. Leaving them just five points out of wild card contention in the Eastern Conference.

The Oilers lead the way as slender -120 favourites on Tuesday’s NHL odds. The Senators sport strong +100 odds on the NHL moneyline, and the total is listed at 6.5.

Senators vs. Oilers NHL Betting Odds

The Oilers claimed a 3-2 victory in Ottawa in their first meeting of the season back on October 21, and have now topped the Senators in six of their past seven matchups including three straight home victories by multi-goal margins.

The Oilers have limited Sens shooters to just five total goals during their current 3-0-0 head-to-head run, and to just five goals in their three recent wins over Ottawa on home ice. However, these clubs have also engaged in some high-scoring affairs, combing to score 7+ total goals in six of their past nine dates.

The Oilers have also surrendered big goal totals during their current swoon, allowing 4.67 goals per game while losing five of six, and have mustered just five total goals during their current two-game home losing streak.

The Sens, meanwhile, have found their groove defensively, allowing more than two goals just once during their current 6-1-1 run, and just 15 total goals over that stretch. That marks a massive turnaround after the club allowed 40 total goals during a preceding 3-6-2 run.

Ottawa Senators

A visit to Toronto proved to be a tonic for a pair of Sens shooters who had been struggling to find the mark. Dylan Cozens led the onslaught in Ottawa’s rout of the Leafs, snapping a five-game road goalscoring drought with a pair of markers while adding an assist.

Drake Batherson also halted an 11-game scoring drought by potting a pair of goals but has failed to score in consecutive games since early December. Brady Tkachuk has enjoyed a lift from team USA’s Olympic gold medal win with points in three straight games and has now racked up 18 points in his past 14 outings.

However, the real star for Ottawa has been netminder Linus Ullmark, who has allowed just seven goals while compiling a 3-0-1 record since his return from an absence for personal reasons.

Edmonton Oilers

Things have not gone so well for the Oilers, who have struggled at both ends of the ice during a dismal 1-5-0 run. The Oilers have blown leads three times during their current swoon, and have been lit up for 12 total goals after 40 minutes over that stretch.

Connor McDavid has continued to produce through it all. The Oilers captain set up three goals in Saturday’s loss to the Sharks and has racked up a goal and six helpers in three games since returning from the Olympic break.

Evan Bouchard has produced from the back end with two goals and seven assists during a four-game points streak. Leon Draaisaitl has also tallied five points in the past two games but has mustered just two goals over his past seven home appearances.
