Ottawa Senators vs. Utah Mammoth Prediction, NHL Odds
The Senators and Mammoth have just not been able to stay consistent, as both teams have had stretches this season of very strong and very poor play. Unsurprisingly, the rollercoaster seasons have landed them outside the playoff picture.
With this game, these teams are in the second half of their seasons. They’re both mathematically alive in their respective conferences. But the runway gets shorter every game to collect valuable points. This should be a fast-paced game as each team would love to have tonight’s two points.
Utah is a -125 favourite to win on the NHL odds, with the total set at 6.0.
Senators vs. Mammoth NHL Betting Odds
In their last 10 games, the Senators are 6-3-1. Those wins were front-loaded, as they have two wins in their latest six games. The six-game stretch is not as bad as it seems, given that the four losses were to Buffalo, Toronto, Columbus, and Detroit, each of which was playing great when they faced Ottawa.
The Mammoth are a tough team to figure out. They have won two out of their last three games, 7-2 and 3-2, and their loss was by a score of 4-1. That follows a stretch in which they dropped three out of four for the second time in as many weeks. Utah has lost three consecutive games four separate times in the last two months. Utah’s range of outcomes resulting in their .500 record makes them a tough click.
Ottawa Senators
The Mammoth are not the only team in this game that has been tough to figure out. The Senators have suffered a few injuries, but they’re fairly healthy now. Despite their horses in the lineup, Ottawa has struggled to string together wins for a meaningful amount of time.
The Senators put together a three-game winning streak just twice this season. That wouldn’t be so bad if one of those streaks extended to a long streak, but only one of those extended beyond three games to just four. Otherwise, Ottawa has battled to keep pace in the East. If they’re going to return to the playoffs and leap several teams, the Sens have to find a way to get two points against teams like Utah.
Utah Mammoth
There is no panic in Utah’s locker room. It has been a season of ups and downs, but they enter this game just two points out of a playoff spot because the Western Conference is not nearly as crowded as the Eastern Conference. The Mammoth have gotten away with average play thus far, but the margin for error is thinning.
The Mammoth have a glaring omission in their lineup as centre Logan Cooley has been on the IR. Utah has solid depth, though. They have five players with at least 13 goals and six players with at least 23 points (the Senators have two and five). This is a good team if they can find some consistency.
NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Senators vs. Mammoth?
It may not be by much, but the Senators are the more reliable play between these teams. Ottawa has the pedigree of a team that made the playoffs last year and has proven they can turn it on when they need to.
The Mammoth haven’t done enough to instil any confidence in clicking their lines when facing a team above them in the league standings. Utah is 2-4 in their last six home games, and lost to Ottawa early this year by a score of 4-2. The Senators are the better play in this one, but it should be a narrow final of 3-2.
