Detroit Red Wings vs. Boston Bruins Prediction, NHL Odds

The Bruins are -200 favourites on the NHL odds and pegged at +115 on the puckline.

Red Wings vs. Bruins NHL Betting Odds

Black Friday is always a terrific day on the sports calendar because there are a lot of college football games, plus an NFL game this year between the Dolphins and Jets. The NHL and NBA are both back in force as well after both were dark on the American Thanksgiving.

The Red Wings have had a hectic travel schedule of late as they played two games late last week in Sweden as part of the Global Series, returned home Wednesday against New Jersey and now head to Boston. Friday is already the third of four regular-season meetings between the teams. Detroit was a huge upset winner in Boston, 4-1 on Oct. 28, and lost 5-4 at home on Nov. 4.

David Pastrnak (3G, 2A) leads Boston with five points and 12 shots in the series and is plus-3. Jeremy Swayman allowed one goal in his win, and Linus Ullmark surrendered an uncharacteristic five goals in his loss. David Perron (1G, 2A) leads Detroit with three points in the series. Ville Husso was in net for both and has a 3.57 GAA and .883 SV.

The home team is 20-6 in the past 26 meetings.

Detroit Red Wings

The Wings have racked up the frequent flier miles as they had two games in Sweden last week and returned home for a 4-0 win over New Jersey on Wednesday and now head out on this one-game trip.

Third-string netminder and journeyman Alex Lyon was in net against the Devils and had to make only 16 saves in his second career shutout. Should be No. 1 Ville Husso today, though. He hasn’t played since Nov. 11 as his wife gave birth. The Finn is 6-3-1 with a 3.61 GAA and .885 SV. He might lose his job to Lyon if things don’t improve. Detroit is 9-0-2 when scoring four or more goals. Alex DeBrincat and Dylan Larkin are tied for the team lead with 18 points apiece. DeBrincat has a point in four straight. Larkin hadn’t had a goal in five games until scoring Wednesday. Detroit is 0-4 in its past four after a win.

Boston Bruins

Boston avoided its first losing streak of the season with a 3-1 win at Florida on Wednesday in a playoff rematch. Rookie Johnny Beecher had his second straight game with a goal. Charlie Coyle also scored and has 10 points in nine November games, which ranks second on the team behind David Pastrnak’s 15 points this month.

The Bruins became the fourth team in 30 years to lead the league in points (outright or tied) at U.S. Thanksgiving in two or more consecutive years, joining the Canadiens (from 2014-15 – 2016-17), Sharks (from 2008-09 – 2009-10) and Panthers (from 1995-96 – 1996-97). It was Linus Ullmark in net Wednesday so probably Jeremy Swayman here. The 24-year-old is 7-0-2 with a 2.09 GAA and .933 SV. The Bruins are 19-7 in their past 26 Friday games.
