The final qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is officially complete, with the last six teams locking in their places on Tuesday.

A lot of Canadians likely breathed a sigh of relief when Bosnia and Herzegovina upset world No. 12 Italy on penalties to advance. Canada, No. 30 in the FIFA World Rankings, is pooled in Group B with No. 19 Switzerland, No. 55 Qatar and No. 65 Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The 2026 tournament is the first to feature an expanded field of 48 teams, made up of 12 groups of four.

The World Cup will be co-hosted between Canada, Mexico and the United States, running from June 11 to July 19. Canada opens the group stage against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 12 in Toronto before they move to B.C. for matches on June 18 (vs. Qatar) and June 24 (vs. Switzerland).
