Oilers vs. Stars NHL Betting Odds
Is this the year the Dallas Stars finally get over the proverbial hump? They reached the playoffs each of the past four seasons and lost in the Western Conference Finals in the previous three. About a week after losing in five to Edmonton in the 2025 West Finals, the team fired coach Peter DeBoer.
The regular-season success has continued under Glen Gulutzan, who also coached the Stars from 2011 to 2013, going 64-57-9 and missing the playoffs in both seasons. Gulutzan had spent the previous seven seasons as an assistant with the Oilers, working under four different head coaches thanks in part to a good relationship with star Connor McDavid.
Dallas likely won’t catch first-place Colorado in the Central Division but should finish second. It is +650 to win the Western Conference. We don’t rule that out, although the Stars need a return to health of star forward Mikko Rantanen. He was hurt in the Olympics with Finland and has not played out of the break. Rantanen (69 points) is likely still a few weeks from returning.
Thursday marks the third and final regular-season meeting between the teams with the Stars eyeing the sweep thanks to a 4-3 shootout home win Nov. 4 and a 8-3 blowout victory in Edmonton on Nov. 25. Wyatt Johnston (1G, 7A) leads Dallas with seven points in the series. Rantanen has two goals and an assist. Jake Oettinger and Casey DeSmith each got a win in net.
Dallas is 6-4 in the past 10 meetings overall, and the over-under is 7-3.
Edmonton Oilers
Edmonton got arguably its most impressive win of the season on Tuesday, 4-3 at Colorado. Connor McDavid was the No. 1 star with the game-winning goal at 9:03 of the third as well as an assist. McDavid factored in on a go-ahead goal for the 398th time in his career, one shy of tying Wayne Gretzky for the franchise record. McDavid also extend his road points streak to an unthinkable 19 straight games (34 total points). Ryan Nugent-Hopkins added two goals Tuesday. He is now two points from becoming the seventh player in Oilers history to reach 800 career. Leon Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard both recorded two helpers. Connor Ingram started in net and stopped 15 of 17 shots before leaving in the second after a collision with Nathan MacKinnon in the crease. Tristan Jarry, who had been massively struggling, made 11 saves on 12 shots in relief to earn the win and should start Thursday. The over is 6-2 in the Oilers’ past eight.
Dallas Stars
Dallas has just one loss in its past 13 games following a 2-1 home win over Vegas on Tuesday. All three goals were scored in the second period with Jamie Benn’s 12th of the season as the winner at 14:16. Benn’s goal came on the power play, the 10th consecutive game in which Dallas has scored on the man advantage. The franchise hadn’t done that in 20 years. The win extended the Stars’ points streak to 13 games dating to Jan. 23, tying the second-longest stretch in franchise history. The Stars are the third team this NHL season to reach at least 13 games with a point along with the Avalanche (17 games and 13 games) and Lightning (15 games). Jake Oettinger recorded his 103rd career home win Tuesday to pass Cesare Maniago for the third-most in franchise history. Marty Turco holds the mark of 148. It likely will be Oettinger again Thursday. The over is 4-1 in the Stars’ past five.
