A win could put Edmonton into second place in the Pacific with only Calgary in front. At 38-17-8 the Flames currently hold a five-point lead on the division and seven-point lead on Edmonton. The Oilers are three points ahead of Vegas for the final playoff spot as they try to escape a tight playoff race out west.

Edmonton last played on Thursday defeating San Jose by a score of 5-2. The Flames last played San Jose as well but were on the wrong side of a 4-3 contest. Puck drop at Scotiabank Saddledome goes at 10 p.m. EDT, with Calgary a -170 favourite on the moneyline and the over-under at 6.5.

Oilers vs. Flames NHL Betting Odds

Both teams enter Saturday playing well, but not great with wins in six of their last 10. Regardless, Calgary remains one of the NHL’s best home teams with a 19-6-6 record on the season. Both teams have trended to the over this season, with 33 hits on the year.

The Flames took their lone home meeting with Edmonton this season, winning 3-1 earlier this month. The home team’s won all three Oilers–Flames games this season too. Tyler Toffoli potted two goals back on March 7 versus Edmonton, that being his 10th game as a Flame after being traded from Montreal.

Edmonton Oilers

Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl remain among the league’s top scorers as of late, but Edmonton’s finally getting some scoring depth outside their top duo. Both Kailer Yamamoto and Evander Kane have found the back of the net in four of Edmonton’s last five outings, and each have buried in their last three games.

Yamamoto’s 18th opened the scoring for Edmonton Thursday, while Kane’s 15th ensured the win. Draisaitl and McDavid had multi-point nights themselves, with the former scoring twice to reach 44 goals on the season. Mike Smith made 28 saves in the win and now has a .914 save percentage in four appearances this month.

Calgary Flames

The Flames have dropped two straight at home, both to non-playoff teams in Buffalo and San Jose. Calgary’s ran into some scoring troubles too with a 3-3 record in their last six outings and three combined goals in the losses. Johnny Gaudreau, Dillon Dube, and Mikael Backlund all scored for Calgary Thursday versus the Sharks.

Gaurdreau’s now at 29 goals on the season, and both his and Matthew Tkachuk’s next goal will make them the third and fourth Flames to reach the 30-goal milestone this season. Elias Lindholm leads the club with 31, and Andrew Mangiapane’s right behind at 30.
