A season-high losing streak has dropped the Jets out of first place in the Central Division after going on a record-breaking run to begin the year.

The Sabres are on a four-game losing streak of their own after an all-time collapse on Tuesday in front of their home crowd.

The NHL odds have Winnipeg as -145 favourites to win on the road, with the total set at 5.5 goals. Puck drop from KeyBank Center is set for 7 p.m. ET.

Jets vs. Sabres NHL Betting Odds

This is the first meeting of the season between the cross-divisional opponents and Winnipeg will be looking for continued dominance in this matchup after taking the victory in four of their past five meetings. Their most recent head-to-head hit the OVER for the first time in nine games, setting their record at 1-8-1 over the past 10 in that column.

The Jets’ sluggish offensive production plays a big part in their recent struggles. They have been held to a single goal in four of their past six outings, including back-to-back games versus divisional opponents. The last 10 games have been low-scoring for this squad, playing the OVER just twice, moving their OVER/UNDER record to 11-14-1.

The Sabres find themselves in high-scoring games more often than most, thanks to their 3.12 goals-against per game, ranked 19th in the league. They have a 12-9-4 record on the O/U this season, the second-fewest UNDERs in the league. Despite losing their past four, they have managed to cover the spread in three of those losses. They have a sub .500 record but have a positive record against the spread overall.

Winnipeg Jets

What goes up must come down, which is exactly what we have seen from the Winnipeg Jets in their past 10 games. After a historic start, the team has only managed to win three of their past 10 games. They suffered their fourth loss in a row Tuesday at home against the St. Louis Blues.

After a scoreless first period, the Blues banged in back-to-back goals in the final two minutes of the second to go up 2-0 headed to the final stanza. St. Louis opened the scoring again in the third, before Mark Scheifele (13) would break the ice for the Jets. The Blues added an empty netter for the 4-1 final and Winnipeg was knocked out of first in the Central.

Part of the Jets scoring struggles can be put on the back of Kyle Connor, who has not scored in six straight games. He still leads the team with 29 points, but his team needs him back in the goal column to snap their slump.

Buffalo Sabres

Buffalo came out the gate on fire Tuesday night versus the Colorado Avalanche, potting four goals in the first 11:49 of the game. Tage Thompson potted the first two for the Sabres, followed by JJ Peterka and Beck Malenstyn to take a 4-0 lead into the second period.

The Avalanche scored one the middle frame before the Sabres fell apart at the seams in the third, allowing four goals in the final period to take a 5-4 loss.

The collapse marked Buffalo’s fourth loss in a row, putting them back below .500 and four spots back of a wild card position. The Sabres keep finding ways to shoot themselves in the foot; they have been shut out twice during this slump and when they do manage to get some offence, their defensive play goes down the drain.
