Winnipeg Jets vs. Colorado Avalanche Prediction, NHL Odds

Friday night in the NHL brings us a big-time matchup between the Winnipeg Jets and Colorado Avalanche. This is the first of four meetings between the two Central Division rivals, and while they may be far apart in the standings, it should be a hard-fought matchup.

Winnipeg is on home ice in this one, and while they are desperate for wins, they are welcoming in a very tough challenge. To get you set for the action, here is our in-depth Avalanche vs. Jets preview and prediction.

Colorado is a -275 favourite to win on the NHL odds, with the total set at 6.0.

Jets vs. Avalanche NHL Betting Odds

Against the spread (ATS), the Colorado Avalanche have done well at 19-14, while the Winnipeg Jets have been average at 15-18. In the game totals, the Avalanche are 14-19-0 to the Over, while the Jets are 18-15-0.

As division rivals, these teams play each other four times per season. Winnipeg won the season series last season 3-1, but in the season prior, the Avalanche had the last laugh in a 4-1 Round One series win.

Nathan MacKinnon leads the way in goal-scoring odds at (-115), with Martin Necas next at (+180). For Winnipeg, Kyle Connor (+180) and Mark Scheifele (+210) have the best odds.

Winnipeg Jets

Overall, it has been a disappointing season for the Jets. They have posted a record of 15-16-2, and are not in the race for a top-three spot in their division, as the Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, and Minnesota Wild are all having incredible seasons. The usual contenders in Winnipeg are really struggling, and eventually, time will run out for a resurgence.

While their stud goaltender, Connor Hellebuyck, has finally returned from injury, it is clear he alone cannot carry this team. A change in production and effort is needed from the entire team. They are healthy and on home ice, but will their best efforts make a dent against their opponents?

Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche are having an incredible season and are among the early favourites to win it all. Sitting with a 24-2-7 record, they are at the top of the NHL standings with 55 points. Just two regulation losses in 33 games is insanity, and it is not a fluke with this powerhouse of a team.

They are extremely healthy, with just Logan O’Connor out with an injury. Colorado has been on fire with a 5-0-1 record in their last six, which includes a current three-game winning streak.

Led by the NHL’s leading producer, Nathan MacKinnon, who leads the NHL in points (58) and goals (28), this team has one agenda: to win the Stanley Cup. It is hard to see any team slowing them down.

NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Jets vs. Avalanche?

This is an important matchup within the Central Division. I think Winnipeg will do its best to get up for the challenge, but Colorado has been just too dominant. It is clear they have come into this season with a major purpose and are running through every team, whether at home or on the road.

This won’t likely be a cake walk for Colorado, facing one of the NHL’s best goaltenders in Connor Hellebuyck, but a task they should be up for. When all is said and done, I expect a 3-1 win for the Colorado Avalanche.
